Forums - Politics Discussion - Is the white hand at Mario Maker so offensive? Racial debate needs to evolve!

OBS: Since the point of this thread is racism, even if i'm talking about a Nintendo game the core of the debate will expand into other political discussions, so i thought it would be better placed at Politics Discussion. Just a disclaimer to avoid unecessary discussion about the thread not being at the right place.

The discussion of the woman white hand at mario maker marketing was something really unexpected for me. I'm a black guy, and I don't feel offended at all, because I don't have nothing against white women, I don't see this as segregationism from Nintendo. The point of reverse racism is most of the times just ridiculuous, but this time I believe it's just the case, it's about non-white non-women people getting offended because the race and the sex of the person that the hands belongs don´t match their sex and their race, it's sound just as racist if Nintendo had put a black man hand and chinese women complaining for not feeling represented by that hand.

I believe representation is important to any minority, but this is just intolerance, and it's such a small thing, equality should be about equal opportunitties and mutual tolerance and love, not about wanting me everywhere.

People need to evolve, we are all the same race and whatever discriminatory ''situation'' you might find right now is cause by a select group of people, too bad, we can only try and promote acceptance to make our envyroment more pleasant for all, that's it, nobody is obliged to represent you, nobody is obliged to go out of their way to prevent you from feeling offended when there's no offense.

Now specifically speaking about nintendo and the mario maker hand, being a victim, of anything, doesn't give you a free pass to spread baseless hatred and it seems like this practice is becoming more and more of a problem itself.

All I can say is that I wouldn't be offended in the slightest had the phantom hand been of another race than mine. I don't really understand how can can be considered exclusion. In fact, it seems pretty damn superficial to demand that a company have an alternative hand which matches mine. If they do, fine, but if not, that's fine, too.

It really does sound more like intolerance than anything, or at least selfishness.

People are just easily offended because they are either really bored, or they live in their own little fantasy world where everything is supposed to be a sunny day in the park. Life doesnt have to be intensely difficult, but complaining about the color of the hand in super mario maker to me is beyond stupid.

They made the game and put the hand they wanted. Stop complaining and deal with it.

If it really bothers you that much then don't buy the game. It's really that simple.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

People this days like to complain about the most stupid little detail. Just deal with it, it's not racism, it's just a hand that doesn't affect the gameplay, so what's the problem?

As a black man this mario hand thing isn't racism at all and I hate when these fake racism stories are brought out. Police brutality, income inequality, war on drugs, housing inequality and the prison pipeline is TRUE racism.

Wasn't this confirmed to be a misunderstanding?

"Its been confirmed that there are more options for the in-game hand, including various skin tones. Looks like there was some misunderstanding with the reps that the Business Insider author asked."

Just makes this whole situation all the more ridiculous

EDIT:

You aren't even limited to human hands!!

Just this.

Most people are sane, we just tend to hand the unjustly offended a megaphone as it will generate clicks.
