Forums - Gaming Discussion - If SEGA would Kickstarter a new Console, would you support it?

would you support it?

5$ tier 33 5.78%

30$ tier 60 10.51%

400$ tier or above 106 18.56%

no 372 65.15%

Total:571

At any rate, I think it's more likely that SEGA makes its own smart phone or tablet at this point.

Pixel Art can be fun.

System seller right here

Why would a multi-million dollar company like Sega-Sammy do a kickstarter on this? They already have the money to make a new console but since its not viable anymore, they won't.

I won't deny I'd still want a Dreamcast 2 though.

If they are seriously making a sega. I will sell my wiiu and all its games. Even the zelda. I would keep my xbox one as a bridge untill sega has enough games. And then when there are enough games ill sell the xbox one as well. Segz has the games. People cry cause sega makes games on different consoles. Some good some bad. But sega with a console knows just what its doing. Im not talking about management. Im talking games here. And i happened to love sega games in the console days

I've had Mega Drive/Genesis, Game Gear, Saturn and Dreamcast and I wouldn't support a DC2 simply because in the last decade or so Sega hasn't impressed me with their software development (barring some exceptions like Valkyria Chronicles).

I have zero attachment to Sega so I can't say I would.

Nope.

SEGA is completely done with consoles, if they attempt to bring out a console now, it'll most likely bomb, and be even more of a failure than the Wii U.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Yes. There's still probably at least half a million Sega fans from the old days that would buy into this at the 400 dollar tier immediately. I actually think it's quite feasible. They just need a solid business plan - aim squarely at the hardcore and position yourself as an elite console. Forget shops, sell just via their own site. Make 50-100 dollars per console sold and release loads of games, including a subscription service where you can play all previous generation games for $x per month.

I can't explain why but I got major deja vu from this thread.

Anyways, no. But it would be really interesting if they were funded (but 10m is certainly not enough).
