Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U needs slow death, rise of NX and is Zelda delay inevitable?

Not sure if people want a Zelda delay, but yes, I would like to see the 3rd Party support back and a stronger console

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Zelda should be delayed to next console. Only to force peopel to buy it at launch to give the system a good start.

3rd parties will never return to Nintendo if this thread is any indicator. People seem to want most their games to be called Mario something. To me the Wii U already has enough Mario games.

Mario Party 10
Mario Kart 8
Super Mario 3D World
Mario and Sonic at Olympics
New Super Mario U

Coming:
Mario Maker
Mario Tennis

But I don't want Zelda U on the NX... I invested on purchasing a wiiU for exclusive games like Zelda and the wiiU has gotten fuck all in terms of a dedicated Zelda game from Nintendo and not having an exclusive/dedicated Zelda game for the wiiU would devalue my investment on the console... And if that happens, I sure won't be buying the NX at launch (unless its a handheld obviously) cause it would make me lose faith in Nintendo to deliver me games because their ability to deliver me games would be based on the platform's success or failure

You forget that consoles are all about business and Wii U has failed completely. Zelda is quite big franchise (Nintendo has several bigger franchises though) but not enough to make Wii U a success. Remember, Mario Kart is several times bigger franchise and even that wasn't enough. The only way Nintendo could remain on consoles is to make new console soon and abandon Wii U. If they don't release NX soon, they would have to leave consoles completely. If there are no game or console sales, it is insane to continue making losses. It doesn't matter at all whether you like it or not.

Sure, they probably will release Zelda U on Wii U but it will probably ported to NX.

Actually Nintendo is now making profit, last year they have $350m profit (they expecting similar profit for this year too), software is selling very well, but yes hardware sales of 3DS and Wii U are dropping and they need new hardware in 2016/2017.

...said no Metroid/paper Mario/ Mario party/ Zelda/jrpgs/Mario 64-sunshine-galaxy/ Fire Emblem/ Animal Crossing fan ever.

When you say it like that it seems to be thé worst Nintendo console since ...forever ?

N64 also didnt have Metroid, we still dont know for Paper Mario, we have Mario Party, we geting Zelda, Xenoblade is jrpgs, we have Mario 3D World, we are geting Fire Emblem crossover, big Animal Crossing probably no. At end of the day we can maybe certainly only say that Wii U will not have Metroid and big Animal Crossing game.

Wii U is great console for Nintendo fans, I think much better than Wii.

But GC and Wii had.

We Know NX comes soon so its very unlikely they announce an other big exclusive for WiiU while a game tales at least 2 years of dev

We dont have a good Mario party while every Nintendo console since 64 had one

We dont Know if thé Zelda will be exclusive, its very likely WiiU wont have an exclusive Zelda like TP for GameCube

One jrpg is not enough, much less than GameCube or Wii

Mario 3D world is not part of 3D Mario with exploration and adventure and stars/sun to get, its something else, most fans were expecting a Mario 3D aventure like that and thought Mario 3D world was only thé one waiting for thé ambitious 3D Mario adventure

No réal Animal Crossing game or réal Emblem too

You must have bad mémories of Wii, third party Alone makes it much better than WiiU, and it had much more and better Nintendo games

WiiU looks more like the worst Nintendo console since before n64

-Your point was that Wii U sound like worst console because dont have Metroid (and few other games), my point is that N64 for example too didn't have Metroid.

-We cant certainly know if Wii U will other get bigs game, doesn't needs to be exclusive, maybe later will be ported on NX or NX port.

-Maybe its not good, but we have one, you wrote we dont Mario Party game same like Metroid. Personally one Mario Party game is more than enuf per generation.

-Who cares if Zelda U maybe wont be exlusive, its much more important that Wii U will have new Zelda game and not just HD port.

-One jrpg is better than none.

-Mario Sunsine and Mario Galaxy are completly difrent games so is Mario 3D World (you have stars to get in game). Mario 3D World is legit 3D Mario game and its very good, in fact one of the best games this generation.

-No real Animal Crossin but we will have crossover of Fire Emblem.

Like i wrote, at end of the day in this moment we can maybe only say that Wii U will not have Metroid and big Animal Crossing game.

I have memories with Wii and I was little disappointment, with Wii U I'm much more satisfied, what Wii U offer in comparison with other Nintendo consoles:  Best NSMB game, best Pikmin game, best DK game (if we dont count SNES), best Mario Kart game, best Super Smash Bros, best Yoshi game after SNES/DS version, Zelda U looks like it will one of the best Zelda games ever (at lest better than TP and SS) add to that one of the best new Nintendo exlusive in recent years, Splatoon.

So I really can't see how Wii U can be worst Nintendo console, personally much better than Wii, like I wrote Wii U is great console for fans of Nintendo games.

No m'y point was that WiiU is thé worst Nintendo console because it doesnt have all these games , not only metroid, but all these big IP together missing WiiU, and WiiU meant to reconciliate third party with Nintendo was in fact much less supported than gamecube and Wii

I really cant see how you can think Wii was worse when it had much more Nintendo games and even games in general, and if WiiU really dont get a dedicated exclusive Zelda, it would confirm m'y point as a fact, most care to Know if it is exclusive, if it is on NX , WiiU will become useless for a lot of Zelda fans

I saw much more fans disappointed with WiiU than Wii obviously , and its normal because WiiU gamers are also gamers

But you point is wrong because you wrote that all that games are missing on Wii U and that's not true.

Wii had more games but you have very big number of average (or even bad games) on Wii, on Wii U you have smaller numbers of games but they are almost all very good and like I wrote some of the best games in whole franchises. If is Zelda U exclusive or not don't mean nothing, especially for Wii U owners.

I wasn't visiting forums in Wii era, but I rarely see that Nintendo fans are disappointed with Wii U, people that dont like Nintendo games sure but not Nintendo fans.

No m'y point is these games are either bad or missing on WiiU, just forgot to édit about bad Mario party and other things , sorry but some Nintendo fans have higher expectations. Maybe in America Nintendo fans have lower expectations and accept less

If Zelda WiiU is not exclusive it means Zelda fans who have none other big interest in WiiU line up would be disappointed , exclusives are what make a console appealing and Zelda was meant to be one of thé 2 biggest WiiU exclusive

Still, if you were reading, i wasnt talking about ave rage games but good games, no contest, Wii has much more.

Wii also missing some games that will Wii U have, like Pikmin, Yoshi, Star Fox, and almost all Wii U Nintendo games are better than games from same franchises on Wii.

Why Zelda fan would be disappointed in that case!? He will still get game on Wii U and he will still played with same enjoyment.

Splatoon was announced in May 2014 and came out before May 2015.

"Good" Mario Party is just a way to say "This game that disproves my point doesnt count because I dislike it."

"Exclusive Zelda Like Twilight Princess" Uh........

3D World is definitely a 3D Mario. I mean, the word 3D is in it. A different focus than usual doesnt really ruin it's validity.

Better is subjective.

I dont even care about which is better, but this post is odd.

Splatoon is not a big game and has very fzw content, not a good example

Good Mario Party is a way to say there is no décent Mario party, only a bad one  considered as bad by most reviewers, saying this thing is what Mario party fan want is not really honest

Why Splatoon is not a big game!?

Because Nintendo decided to launch without all content and instead releasing content buy time, thats only reason you can say that isnt big game. Because of way Nintendo decide to launch and update game, in every other way is big game and big and great new IP for Nintendo.

I didn't forget anything cause I don't care about the whole business aspect cause them doing bad with the wiiU hardware sales doesn't affect me as a customer... I don't have investments in Nintendo's stock so why should I care whether or not the wiiU is failing in sales? What I do care about is the promises they made and the games that I will get that can only be played on the wiiU cause that is why I bought it in the first place. If they can't keep those promises, then I have no confidence in them going forward..

So, if they want me to remain a loyal customer, they have to deliver everything they promised including the fact that they said "Zelda Only on WiiU." Now they can go ahead and port it to the NX at a later time, perhaps a year or two later, then thats fine but if it comes out on both at the sametime, that means that Nintendo didn't deliver on everything they promised hence why they will lose me as a loyal customer. Not to say I won't buy the NX if its a console but it sure wont be at launch and I will be a lot more tempted to go the hacking route than the supporting route

Oh and the whole "they will leave consoles completely if they don't launch the NX soon" is pretty nonsense at best considering how the company is making profit and they are taking various actions such as making deals with theme parks, mobile and getting more amiibos and etc to make even more profit going forward... And not to mention how much they already have in the bank

I don't recall they said that, but they certainly say Zelda for Wii U, but not only.

Hello Nintendo fans. I've never been so unexcited and unethusiastic to be a Nintendo fan as I am now. I've owned practically every Nintendo console except for the Wii U and I am older and have less time to play games but one thing is true: Nintendo isn't the same.

That's the reason why I have a WiiU, less time to play means I can enjoy the few gems that are released.

I'd be nice to have floods of 3rd party support, but I know I'd ignore quite a few of them.

They were flat till now, but now New 3DS effect weaken and Wii U will have drop from last years Mario Kart game and bundle, we already saw that in US, Wii U this Jun sold 70k and last 140k. In best case this year YOY will be flat (with Wii U price cut), next and every other year we can expect only drop.

I for one am quite enthusiastic about Nintendo at the moment. The games they produce are better than ever, and they look great in HD.
Sure it would be nice if the Wii U was more popular, but their games are really enjoyable nontheless.
