Bullshit? Most of the top 8 for Evo finals were Japanese players.
By DLC characters they mean characters intentionally removed from the core game.

I don't see why we'd immediately assume something like that. If that turns out to be the case then sure, we can complain, but making negative assumptions for the sake of making negative assumptions seems somewhat pointless to me. Better to remain neutral until we know more.

That doesent mean most players are in Japan. Sales certainly dont reflect that.

C'mon, Street Fighter is bigger in the west and thats why Sony wanted it. Lets not drag this on.

That's surprisingly cool of Capcom. Hopefully it will not be too difficult to unlock the DLC content but we'll see. For now I'll take this as encouragement to invest more time into the game so I can unlock the content for free and learn more about the game's mechanics while I'm at it.
There's just something satisfying about investing time and effort into getting something as opposed to just getting it by paying a fee.

Of course they do. Daigo Umehara, arguably the greatest person at Street Fighter, doesn't have a game console. It's all at the arcades. And look back to Evo. Most of the players came from Asia, not the "west". Reason the "west" got destroyed was because more Japanese players came this year.

I looked him up, in this Kotaku article it appears he does have consoles and even an arcade. They just aren't in his home. http://kotaku.com/world-class-street-fighter-player-doesnt-have-a-game-c-1515591621
It appears he even has a Xbox 360. Which makes sense given its used in tournaments.
Common sense told me he doesn't just practice at an arcade. Safe bet most if not all tournament level players own this game on a console.
