"Dr. Manhattan couldn't do anything of what he does if it was based on real science."

Everything he does conforms to the laws of physics.

"Superman obviously isn't powered by the sun, because if so, he wouldn't be able to do 1% of the shit he pulls off"

Superman is powered by the Sun and the fact he pulls all that shit off is proof that the laws of physics don't apply to him.  Doc has limits that he cannot overcome, Superman has no such limits.  Championing the former is indefensible.  At this point, you're either trying to overstate Doc to the point where he no resembles the actual character, or you're trying to deny Superman the ability to perform at levels he performed numerous times before, or both.

In what reality can you control matter with your mind power? In what reality can anything control matter at a sub-atomic level? What scientific laws allow him to see the past, the present and the future at the same time?  What scientific laws enable him to exist outside of his physical body?

In what reality can you control matter with your mind power?: This one, provided that you exist in more than three dimensions.  Like Doc.  If you were a fourth-dimensional being, you could remove someone's heart with your bare hand without disturbing any surrounding tissue or even being seen.  Since the boundries of length, width and depth aren't so constraining for him, he can move atoms as you can move M&Ms.  Carl Sagan's Flatland might convey this better.

In what reality can anything control matter at a sub-atomic level?  This one.  Chemistry is manipulation of matter and particle accelerators manipulate it on subatomic levels.  Doc is essentially doing the same thing without requiring lab equipment, but everything he does is within the clear guidelines of what is theoretically possible.  Considering he exists in more than three dimensions, it is expected that he can do this.

What scientific laws allow him to see the past, the present and the future at the same time?  Geometry.  We are three-dimensional beings but only perceive time in two dimensions.  If we perceived time in three dimensions, we could see every moment of our lives playing out at once.  Interstellar explains that nicely.

What scientific laws enable him to exist outside of his physical body? Geometry. It's a mere temporal dislocation of his quantum state.  Since he exists in more than three dimensions and perceives time three-dimensionally, this is just something to be expected.

Doc is basically the conscious limit of what we understand to be scientifically possible.  He is the furthest conceptual limit of human evolution.  Only the laws of physics and universal constants, such as the limitations of light speed, restrain him.  Unfortunately, the DCU does not give a damn about science and flaunts flagrant violations as some bar to be cleared later.  Superman is one such character who routinely throws the laws of motion, energy, thermodynamics, mass, etc. right out the window as things that ordinary people are limited by and no one else.  The Doc cannot begin to compare.  This is literally a contest between the limits of science (Doc) and that which goes so far beyond the limits of science it is cringeworthy (Superman).

All I can think of reading this thread is 'How can people enjoy reading Superman?'

Superman's stories are great.  Just like Batman.  He's an awesome character.  People just get super defensive at the mere thought that their beloved character can possibly lose a fight to another beloved character.

I just want to go on record as saying a lot of what people are saying, especially about Superman Prime, is just wrong.

which prime? the one from an alternate reality who beat up two other supermans? or the gold superman?

eitherway, hated both.

batman lost his awseomeness the moment he became a walking plot device. or maybe its those really die hard fanboys who say's that batman is a master of all martial arts or that he's the best greatest awesomest fighter ever and by extension, superman is too coz he's was trained by batman.

now that i think about it, my distain for superman and batman are actually brought about by stupid fanboys. much like how Jeremy Lin is hated by a lot of rockets and lakers fans due to a handfull of outspoken stupid fanboys of his. sad though, i like jeremy lin, he's a nice guy.

I know he has had some, I've read some, just the feats are sometimes overkill.

I'm not really fond of either of these characters, I do however think reality manipulation trumps everything in terms of powers, including Supes. When the world around you can be anything you want, being able to fly at FTL speeds seems a little pointless.

Of course he can beat someone like that. Didn't you know he once screamed so loud at Darkseid, Darkseid died?

So he has Black Bolt's powers too now? What's next, he's going to be able to stretch like Mr Fantastic? Or use telekinesis on the level of Nate Grey?

hahaha! i just remembered, one forum i visited had a scan of superman singing and hiting some crazy note that the vibratoin from his voice did...um... yeah, cant remember what he did but its some kind of shyety crap like putting everyone to sleep or something like that. cant really remember.

you forget, superman has a form of telekinesis. his "bio-auro" is a form of telekinesis which envelopes everything he caries like when he saves planes and stuff. its the reason why those things dont crumble and doesn't got splat when he flights at super speeds when saving crashing planes and stuff.

stupid? yes. true? yes. superman, batman and wonderwoman go hand in hand as the trio of walking plot divice.

I'm out. this thread has run its course i think. we can all back up dr manhattan as much as we want but when superman fans start throwing on panel feats, well, we aint gonna have anything to throw back. especially me, coz i dont follow the watchmen...ever! now if it were superman vs thor... well, that's a different story as i have his entire history up to the first few issues of his rebirth after ragnarok in my hdd. :p ...yeah.. i'm a thorbag so sue me.

All the gold one did was hide in the sun for several centuries (probably masturbating) and then when Solaris tried to assassinate him with Kryptonite, it was actually the last Green Lantern ring.  Superman put on the ring and killed Solaris (DC One Million Storyline).  That's it.  That's all he ever did.  Then, he used some DNA to recreate Lois Lane (who died).  He wouldn't have even done that if wasn't for Hourman (or Wave Rider or whoever the time traveler was in that story).  All of these other feats that he supposedly did were made up.  Truth is, we have no idea how powerful he was.

The other one (Prime/Superboy Prime/Superman Prime) was just Superboy from Earth Prime in "Crisis on Infinite Earths".  He went batshit crazy and killed a ton of heroes.  HIS powers were off the charts!  He killed the Anti-Monitor, beat the shit out of the ultimate Green Lantern (can't remember his name), and killed our Superboy (Aka Conner Kent)  HE was so powerful, he could rearrange the Solar System, change the center of the universe, and--get this--punch through reality!  His power levels were off the charts but he was evil.

--seems like you're already familiar, though.  THis was mostly for the uniformed.
