I heard from one of my coworkers that it is a really good film. I guess I have to go see it now. Didn't wanna look at a hero named ya know...Ant Man but I better try it before I knock it.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I thought Age of Ultron was meh, and Guardians was boring... So until Marvel impresses me again, Ant-Man is a rental / wait for Netflix movie for me.

It was alright. Has a bit more humor than your average Marvel/superhero film.

It's basically the standard "superhero origin" movie with the "small potatoes villain", not a whole lot of surprises. You won't walk out of it disappointed per se, but it's not exactly hugely memorable either.

Well Ant-Man is an older Marvel character and incredibly important in the Marvel Lore. The name is no different than comic book characters like Iron-Man, Batman, or Spider-Man. It's just a lot of non-comic book reader or non-hardcore Marvel fans don't know the character well and the ring to it hasn't grown on them yet. There are far worse superhero names. Superman probably being the worst of them all XD

Either way.... The funny thing is Scott Lang who is Ant-Man in the movie is actually the 2nd person to become Ant-Man after he inherits that right from Hank Pym. Scott makes fun of the name "Ant-Man" and calls it stupid quite a few times, including asking if he can have a name change or if he can go back to prison. LMAO!

You're right. It is an above average movie - I gave it a 6/10. The regular movie goer likes silly movies like Transformers, Jurassic World and Ant-Man. Nothing to do with Oscar-type.

I don't think you get to determine whether or not it was average, above average, etc.. You can help by contributing to the general consensus, but your opinion alone does not determine how good the movie was. Anyway, how about taking that bet that you proposed and then backed out on because I actually accepted?

Which one was it? That ReCore won't be a $60 title? You're on.

Btw, it's ok to like average movies. The majority of people like average, middle-of-the-road movies.

Yeah, it was very good. My personal top 5 in MCU films will be like this:

1. Guardians of the Galaxy
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3. Iron Man
4. Ant-Man
5. The Avengers

EDIT: I decided this after a post Ant-man MCU marathon (without the series).

What I liked about this film was the humor, the action sequences were epic and fun as hell (the last third of the movie was outstanding, I never laughed so hard in a Marvel movie before :D) and the acting. Paul Rudd is a great Ant-man, and Michael Douglas was great as Hank Pym too. What I dislike about it was the slow beginning and the family subplot, but, with all its flaws, it's an amazing way to end phase 2. Now, let's move into phase 3, and I hope Civil War will deliver!

It was ok. Paul Rudd was surprisingly good.
