Would a Union help America fix its financials?

Forums - Politics Discussion - Would a Union help America fix its financials?

From what I can see, and this is probably wrong, is that if Greece does not fix itself the EU will kick them out of the Union by themselves.

If America had some sort of push like this maybe they would be more serious in their attempts of fixing the economy.

Take Illinois for example, we built tolls decades ago to pay for roads and other initiatives. We then proceeded to sell those tolls and even Chicago parking to outside companies for a quick buck. Pensions rise, disability persists,  debt piles up. We have no consequences that really matter. Next we will sell our national parks mineral rights to china or something. Anything before we are actually held responsible for our financial missteps.

Voting does not help, they are all bastards who we elect.

Stimulus packages do not help.

Surpluses do not help.

What will help? Sure unemployment is down, minimum wage jobs are raising their pay limits and the stock market is skipping along nicely. It's a deception, we are still drowning!

I am not understanding you too well. The U.S IS a union, and already experimented with economic confederacies in its conception. Unless you mean if the U.S became less united? I can agree with that. States being bailed out by each other is already a huge problem, and the federal state is the behemoth of them all when it comes to these spending issues.

Besides the United States which is controlled by the federal government. I mean a union of countries.

There essentially is very little difference between the EU and the United States of America (circa 1790.) If the EU doesn't separate within 200 years it would probably look much like the United States of America, a "federation of Europe." So essentially what you seem to be asking is for the U.S to go back to confederacy(essentially what Europe is now) - which might not be such a bad idea. Allow membership to be voluntary and conditional and many problems will be fixed.

Well If they are kicked out off the union, they will be forced to turn back to theyre money.

And a couple of repport shown that it won't be a bad thing, the money value would be 25% less of what the euro is and the door will be open again to tourism.

some even say they will be better of out of the union.

I think you should edit the title to USA instead of america, I come in here thinking you were talking about merging North, Central and South america, which would have been a chaotic and crazy thread, but is just meh.

Fix the tax structure and decrease pentagon spending.

Feel free to check out my stream on twitch

What I did learn over the past few years is that stock markets impact, but do not represent, the economy.

kick out the south from the Union, works in europe too.

Most left run states are in debt, I feel sorry for we're you live. And voting does help even more so at the local level. Sad thing is its the voter's fault for not paying attention to the people they elect. There are states that balance there budgets and have surpluses . Some states are full of dumb people and will believe all lies and promises that's the reason why federal government is in debt . When you have a the house and senate filled with dumb asses from blind voters you get shitty results! Not all politicians are bad!
