Not sure why people are suggesting Sakurai. My personal favorite developer, but I have no idea how he would function as an executive.

I'd go with Miyamoto. He's done so much for the history of Nintendo. I think one of the problems with the Wii U was that the software and hardware visions didn't mesh together, and I think Miyamoto could help bridge that gap.

Well sony did a fantastic job transitioning from the PS3 to the PS4 and they are dominating the console market so yeah why not.

Indeed, still interesting that Nintendo is cancelling so many public appearances (especially at EVO, which is a fantastic selling point for Smash). Trinen has been there for a long time. Even longer than Reggie and most others at NoA. He also speaks fluent Japanese. He probably has more credibility at NCL than Reggie does despite Reggie being higher up. I bet Bill and Iwata were really close. 

 

OT: Nintendo NEEDS to bring in someone from another gaming company, however they don't need any Japanese execs who are infatuated with mobile. I think someone like Minoru Arakawa who understands the western market, but can stay strong in Japan (vs. full on western minded like Sony) can help Nintendo. 

 

Reggie would make a good candidate, but there is no way they will bring in a non-Japanese person. Miyamoto doesn't have business experience. If Trinen wanted to be president of NoA he would be president by now. Sakurai has all of these things, but others said he has problems with his arm.

Didn't know that about Bill's history and I forgot about his Japanese ability. Good points!

I think it will be Takeda. Personally, I want someone that is not Japanese to be president.
For Sakurai, I am not sure that his conditions will allow him. Reggie and Bill are not Japanese so it will be highly unlikely. The Yamauchi family have no actual power now. Shibata, Miyamoto and Takeda have the best chance.
