Reggie Fils Aime? That's fairly random. Why on earth would you think he's the best guy to answer to a company which is located in Japan and run by Japanese speaking Shareholders and board of directors?

I don't get it, why random?  He's not a developer, he's not a producer, he's a bad gamer, but you can't account for his time with Nintendo.  He is a Nintendo guy through and through and he's been doing it for the last 12 years.  He may not have the same flare for Video games as Iwata, but he has the background to run a business.  He's loud, obnoxious, but he has a great following.  He's respected despite his quirkiness, but just the same you mention Reggie and he's revered as he is outspoken.

As for as Japanese shareholders, all they care about is money being made.  Reggie is someone to me who can read numbers and is good at numbers and is good at business.  He has a Marketing background, but has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics.  He's goofy, but I doubt he's an idiot.  Sure enough the Japanese wouldn't like it at first, but he's the guy to carry on Iwata's strategy, the only one that can connect with the fans without Miyamoto becoming president.

Iwata, before he died, was moving Nintendo into a different kind of thinking, different way of doing things, and most importantly he was making Nintendo a different complexion.  No, I'm not talking about skin color, I'm talking about attitude in the way Nintendo acts and does business.  Iwata was always stretching the olive branch, be it third party or 2nd party or even indies.  Smash bros. 4 is a great indicator of what Iwata was doing.  Megaman, Pacman, Ryu, Sonic, all in one game.  Hiroshi Yamauchi as president would never happen as such, he was old in thinking, real power hungry, willing to have developers hate working with Nintendo because of his policies.  THe only right choice of progression between Presidents would be to "push forward" to new and different ways of doing business.  Reggie represents that.  There's no one in Nintendo's stable of executives that has been more prominent and outspoken than Reggie.  To go back into their stockpile of old japanese executives is backwards thinking.  The way forward is someone like Reggie who the industry trust most, at least in America, is trusted only 3rd behind Miyamoto and Iwata when it comes to Nintendo and it's decisions.

Good lord I hope not. Reggie is the typical suit, and I can't stand him.

Yeah, I really hope not, the shit he's been saying recently was just PR bull.

Exactly. Competence is one thing, the language barrier is what truly keeps the japanese company headed by a japanese board.

God help us if Reggie is appointed president of Nintendo...

The guy can't even talk japanese. How the hell is he supposed to run a japanese company? Will he have a translator 24/7 in his office? No one will take the guy seriously in Nippon.

Miyamoto is the obvius choice, but I have a feeling that Shiggy doesn't want to do that job. I really don't know who will be president in the future, I'll just wait and see. But I don't see Reggie in that position at any time in the future.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Has nobody thought about Satoru Shibata? He's been president of Nintendo of Europe since 2000, after all.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Here's a conspiracy theory for you. What if what you said about Nintendo knowing about Iwata's health and getting ready to replace him was indeed factual........and that is the reason Kojima is no longer with Konami as he is going to take over that role!

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

Your theory is plausible, however if anything Reggie will be promoted from COO to CEO of NoA, I feel like Satoru Shibata has a better chance of being the next CEO.
