Time's are changing. They can still be traditional and still be mostly employed by Japanese guys, but seriously Japan is dying in terms of non mobile video games (Sony knows it and Nintendo knows it). Yea the 3ds still sold what 20 mil in Japan, but it was a decent amount down from the ds. Eventually, Nintendo is going to have to realize that if they are going to survive they are going to have to embrace the western way of life because there are millions of fans over here more than Japan (especially in the future).

You know... they dont need a US president and US headquarters to do that. Also, i think you are projecting the american PoV a bit too much here. The US market is not the only market in the world where you can make a sucessful business.

I said Western, not American or US alone. It doesn't have to be an American President. It could be a European or African President for all I care. I'm just saying that there future is in the west, not in declining Japan, so they need to embrace it and not constantly stick to making games that sell decently in Japan (a small market) and then bombing globally (a much larger market).

I se what you mean. But, it doesnt mean that is the direction they want to go in. It may be they are very happy in doing mobile stuff in Japan only and ignore the rest of the western market trends. Afterall, its very difficult to disrupt the current duopoly we got. It requires alot of investment and risk.

Anyways, the point is, there are many things they can do. They dont necessarely need to follow what Sony and MS are doing.

which would be depressing for us gamers, where we want home consoles with Nintendo IPs.

anyway back on topic, i would think a Japanese would be most likely the next CEO.  Miyamoto, Sakurai or Shibata.  the main requirement would be, he shares the same vision as the previous predecessors and they know what to do to add more Nintendo gamers in the western market. it could be risky, but i think they'll do something about it.  they knew sales in Japan isn't that great and they need other markets too.

Morimoto was mentioned, he is someone who has a high position in the Pokemon division.  he may be pushed to a higher role and be part of that Nintendo bigs.

Takeda as temporary president for 1-2 years, then Morimoto for the next however many years? I mean, Iwata did pass the Nintendo Direct host status to him (at least in Japan).

Anyone know this guys first name and backround? It's not Shigeki Morimoto (even though I saw one Article claiming that), the pokemon developer, as far as I can tell. They look very diffrent. Closest I got to job description was 'PR-representative'.

I really dont think reggie is the right man for the job.... so I hope thats not true.
Also have you seen the PR the guy does? jebus..... Nintendo Directs with reggie? just no... please no.

Close enough to what I would have said. It'll be either Miyamoto or Takeda. Most likely Miyamoto. If either of them gets it, he best go learn english.
