Not even that. The fusion has a great chance for success, but no way will it have a bigger launch than both the ps4 and wii. The ps4 rode in off the shoulders of an amazing comeback by the ps3, and the wii presented a gimmick and critical hit (wii sports) during the RROD era for xbox 360 and the hugely overpriced blue ray player era for the ps3

Wii U: 4 million

3DS: 16 million

First year. And that's with Wii U being a flop and 3DS having a slow start. Of course, this also depends on how expensive the NX is, what kind of support it gets, what it launches with and how it's marketed.

It's not so simple as adding them up. Many of the early wii u adopters were Nintendo fans and probably already had a 3ds upon buying the wii u. Basically, 4 million people won't need to seperate their purchase and the NX will do 16 million still (assuming a home console sells as well as a handheld which is unlikely). Both systems actually had decent third party support during launch, something I don't see the NX launching with given the wii u's third party situation.

In what way was the Wii "lucky"? But yeah, it won't do 20 million.

In the way that it became a fad. Fads are lucky strikes.

Strictly speaking, one of the only consoles that would likely not be considered a "fad" is the PS2.

It's insane that so many believe in digitimes rumors.

PS4 rumour from the same author: http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20110704PD202.html

"Sony to start production of PS4 at end of 2011, say Taiwan makers
Aaron Lee, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Monday 4 July 2011]

Sony will have Taiwan-based partners begin production of PlayStation 4 (PS4) featuring body movement-based control like Kinect at the end of 2011 for launch in 2012, according to Taiwan-based component makers.

Foxconn and Pegatron Technology, assemblers of PS3, will undertake assembly of PS4 as well, the sources pointed out. The planned shipment volume of PS4 in 2012 is at least 20 million units, the sources indicated."

Oh my word, this is almost the same rumor just for a different system xD .  Do they have "form rumors" like "form letters" that they just fill in when they got no better news? :P

Assuming that figure is a misquote/mistranslation. The only way that happens is if the NX is the next iPhone.

If not a misquote, that's dangerous to project such numbers at the risk of falling well short of expectations.

Everyone... including PS4 wants to be the next PS2
Only the PS4 stands even a small chance of achieving that and many consider it very unlikely.

This thread isn't about NX releasing in 2016, which is a rumor. Nintendo SAID themselves they expect NX to reach that goal, which is no rumor

No, it is according to Digitimes Research, which is based on this digitimes rumor: http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20150702PD204.html

Don't believe everything you read on the internet and look up the sources.

It's amazing that these two posts were ignored.

Another fake rumor, shit is getting old

IT's not like that number even if truth is set in stone

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

OMG They've lost it! Stores are going to be overstocked.
