Forums - Gaming Discussion - The future of Digimon in the west.

With the announcement of a new Digimon game, Digimon World: Next Order, the arrival of Cyber Sleuth to PS systems, and a new anime coming to the west and continuing the Adventure series, it seems that Namco-Bandai really wants the franchise to get people's attention again. We could assume that NB could bring Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode for 3DS to the west, at the very least if Cyber Sleuth does well.

The monster battling-collecting genre is getting popular again. With Youkai Watch cattering to  younger audiences, and Pokemon being almost universal, Digimon could catter to the more mature audience, specially since fans of the original series and games are older now. What do you think NB is going to do with the series? Do you think Namco-Bandai will push the Digimon brand once again? Do you think that the audience will be there, and will it attract newer and younger audiences? Should NB bring other Digimon games, like Digimon Adventure for the PSP or the Digimon World games for the DS, maybe a remaster for current consoles/handhelds? And will NB manage to make this comeback a success?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I hope they do! Regardless of their quality and severe lack consistent direction, Digimon World series was instrumental in my PS1 days; spent dozens of hours in each game.

I still think I have my 100% DMW1 file.

I'd say it will continue to enjoy moderate success in Japan, but if they want to have a chance for a big break in the west then they need to move towards home consoles (you all know which system) and I mean more than just putting upscaled handheld ports on home console.

Digimon and Dragon Quest are the two franchises I want always ported to the west.
Dragon Quest is like Nintendo's Final Fantasy from Square Enix and Digimon is well, just a good RPG that I enjoy.
