Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the next CEO of Nintendo make powerful consoles to their fullest? Since Iwata has passed away?

Not true at all.  Each console that has won their respective generation, was by far the most powerful at the time of their release, except for Wii.  Just because a more powerful console happened to come out later, which is inevitible due to hardward advancements over time, does not mean consumers do not care.

Also, each console that has won (except for Wii) has gone out of their way to hype the hardware advancements (bits, polygons, 3d, plays dvd's, online play, etc.)  Nintendo's marketing approach is more along the lines of here's our console, graphics aren't important, people don't really want the internet, but our games are really really fun.  Nintendo fails to understand that they actually need to sell the hardware to people to get them to play the games in the first place.

PS2 is the most powerful console? In what dreamland? N64 was also more powerful than the PS1 and it's incredibly noticable with games like OoT, MM, Banjo-Kazooie (and Tooie), Perfect Dark, Goldeneye 007, etc.

Man, research before you post.

Learn to read.  PS2 was the most powerful console at the time of it's release.  PS was the most powerful console at the time of its release.  Although both were not the most powerful console of their generation, they were the most powerful consoles at the time of their release.

Lifetime Sales Prediction - 6/29/2013
Wii U - 38 million
XBOX One - 88 million
Playstation 4 - 145 million

Talk about moving the goalpost LOL.

Guess what, the Wii U was the most powerful console at the time of its release.

Why are you all so concerned about power? I mean, in this day and age, it doesn´t add anything to a game, ANYTHING.

That's not true at all, the 3DS games could be so much better on a more powerful handheld. And two analogue sticks please.

I'm looking forward the most to Nintendo's handheld because the 3DS games look so bad.

Yes it was, but only barely, and we are comparing to 6 and 7 year old consoles at the time.  Nintendo also failed to ever officially make the claim the Wii U was more powerful, or release system specs to back it up.  Also a few publishers made claims that the 360 and PS3 were in fact more powerful which led fanboys to also argue the same in message boards.

The whole point of selling a console is to create hype.  Nintendo though the controller could sell the system, and when it couldn't, they didn't have a plan B.

My whole point is that each winner other than Wii was high end at the time of their release relative to the sale price.  Not that having the most powerful console gaurantees success.

Its not just about power.  Its about the overall functionality the console offers, and the variety of the games made available.  Nintendo should care because the consumer and developers care.

How can, for example, fire emblem awakening be "so much better" with more power?

Exactly what motivation would Nintend have making a console more powerful than the PS4. Doesn't anyone remember the Gamecube. There has to be some resistance to this idea considering the sales of the Wii.

The obvious answer is that Nintendo would want to make a console that would be attractive to third party developers
