Intel, for inventing the microprocessor.

Shigeru miyamoto probably, if we really are gonna be picky. If it werent for Nintendo there would probably be no video games today. ALso video games didnt just help the video game industry out it even helped the whole media aspect, like movies and more

Miyamoto undoubtedly no.1 followed by people like John Carmack, John Romero and Sid Meier and some others. Basically people who were there early on and built the foundation of gaming as we know it today.

Sony and Sony devs came to gaming to late to make the same kind of impact as Nintendo and early PC game devs nobody in the future can have as much impact on gaming as those people no matter how much talent.

The very first organic molecules drifting through the primordial ooze of the Earth's violent adolescence did the most for gaming. Without them, the primitive life forms that eventually evolved into humans wouldn't have existed, so there would be no video games at all. Those little prokaryotes gave rise to a whole industry! ...And to life, and all the other things.

Mathematics.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

Shall we go with the ancient Sumerians who created the first abacus, or can we go even deeper?

Actually, I forgot about the whole "or what" part, so let's go with mathematics as a concept, which has theoretically existed since the birth of the Universe. So the thing that has done the most for gaming is the everlasting hellfire of creation.

You know, I could just say God, but at this point that would feel like taking the easy way out. Besides, so many people in the media have told me the Devil is actually the driving creative force behind video games, I wouldn't know which one to pick!

God for creating humans that created video games :P

As far as an individual goes, definitely Miyamoto.

I think questions like these are stupid. All this "oh if that person wouldn't have been we wouldn't have ....". Bullshit I say! If that one person didn't exist, someone else would've done it. Or maybe someone would've had the chance to do something even better. We shouldn't glorify single individuals. The world is a complex system and no single human had a big impact alone.

Also, Hironobu Sakaguchi is the God Of Gaming!
