Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If you thought Splatoon was a $20 e-shop game and would flop

It could also be that some people think it's silly to apologize over game predictions since they're usually nothing more than guesses in the first place.

Are we really going to get these threads for Splatoon on a weekly basis?  If we're going to get them, at least let Tbone51 make them, as he's already got a start on the "I was right and you were wrong na na a boo boo" series for Splatoon.

I'd be inclined to agree with you, but I'm more-so referring to the people who were hoping the game would fail rather than just predicting it would sell poorly.

I was a naysayer of splatoon, not because I thought it wouldn't sell well, I was saying it's not going to boost Wii U sales anywhere near other 'boosts' have been from exclusives. It did get a boost but it only sold 58k that week so well done for selling well but as I predicted the people who bought it already owned a Wii U.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I was expecting a $40 or $50 physical release, instead it's $70 and doesn't even have split screen. It might be fun but not worth hearing my kids fight over who gets to play. Pass.

It indeed exceeded my expectations..

I originally thought it would sell 1M LT but I am glad that they really pushed this game, making sell really well

You can come to this thread and apologize now that we know it turned out to be a hit and all of the amazing content that we've been gradually getting. It's just the beginning.

Now get out there and buy a Wii U.

Apologise for having an opinion? Really?

Didn't know anything about the game or make any predictions but now it has released and I know what the game is, I would of never guessed a game like this would have these sales. It's great for games that trying to do something different though. Although I don't like the full game releasing over time concept, I fully support original games.

I'm sorry, but I really hate this thread. Splatoon has done marvelous no doubt, but asking for others to apologize for thinking otherwise is dumb. People make predications and guesses all the time, but no one should be punished (or insisted to apologize) for making a wrong assessment.

I really hope this doesn't start becoming a trend where "everyone who thought the wii u/vita was gonna succeed you can come to this thread and apologize..."

I get that some of you are happy that splatoon is doing well (I admit it far surpassed my expectations), but lets not put down people who thought otherwise; because in all reality Nintendo has got a victory on their hands, but they still continue to lose the sales war

Buy a Wii U for Splatoon alone?

I basically did it. I mean, I bought a Wii U for Xenoblade and Zelda, not for Splatoon. But I bought said Wii U ~6 weeks ago because I wanted to play Splatoon. That make sense?

Not to defend Splatoon, because it really should have some better local options, but I used to play single-player games with my sister all the time. Taking turns is a valid form of local multiplayer, depending on the type of game.
