So this is the conclusion of the thread, with the Wii U amassing 12.5 million units sold by the end of 2015. It's interesting that while 10.29% of you were spot on the money about 75% of people underestimated the sales the Wii U would be able to achieve by the end of last year, myself included.
Does this change your opinion on the Wii U at all or is it still a huge flop for Nintendo? Another poll worth doing would be to see whether the Wii U would sell what they sold in 2015 (3.5 million) in 2016. With Starfox and Zelda coming you never know. That would mean the Wii U could be at about 16 million units sold by Christmas this year. Is that a realistic expectation? Anyway thanks to everyone who participated in the thread....

Do we have any official numbers from Ninty? Do they release shipment numbers?

Around the Network

I've just been using VG Chartz numbers for the thread so there may potentially be some room for error but it's the best I could

come up with.

Well I thought Wii u would be at 11.5 million as off the 1st January 2016. To be ( give or take a few k) a million above that is frankly fantastic.

So this is a necropost RE the Wii U. I see that it has reached 13.56 million units sold at the end of 2016, and it had 12.5 million at the end of 2015. Only 1 million consoles for the year compared to an average > 4 million per year for the first 3 years.
It really shows just how badly it tanked due to a lack of software and an erosion in the confidence consumers had for the console. Now, with production stopped I'm assuming about 14 million lifetime is about right.
RIP Wii U..... Let's all make the Switch
