Forums - Movies & TV - AMAZING looking trailer: The Shannara Chronicles (Fantasy TV Series)

I'll probably watch it. I read a few of the books in the shannara series but I never completed the series. Honestly, I rather watch a show based off of the codex alera series by Jim Butcher.

While the production looks good, it has that generic fantasy feeling to it... I'll try it for sure, but I'm skeptical since the books weren't all that awesome

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

This could be a new game of thrones.... worried about it being on MTV.

Friend request pending. Jim is my favorite author, him & Kim Harrison,Richelle Mead,Patrik Rothfuss,George RR Martin.

My dream is they make a movie series, of Harry Dresden.

Where each book = 1 movie.

And they stay as true to the books as humanly possible.

F**k Yeah I loved that series. I reread it now and then-

"Wheel of Time" would have been my dream come true... saldy the special effects and costumes and other things would probably be to expensive and I do not want another "Seeker of truth" cheap looking series.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I haven't read the dresden files or any books from Kim harrison, Richelle Mead, Patrik Rothfuss and George RR Martin. I really want to read the game of thrones books. I'll have to remember those other authors though. I started to really read only a few years ago so there's a lot of books that I haven't read or aware of.

It's probably my favorite series of books so far. I read the sword of truth series but it wasn't that good compared to Codex Alera series. I haven't read the wheel of time series yet but i'll put that on my to read list. If they do any show based off of the books, they'll need to treat the shows like game of thrones.

Patrik Rothfuss - Kingkiller Chronicles , is probably the best written books Ive ever read.

George RR martin wishes he could write books like those, thats how good they are.
Id also recommend ;

Richelle Mead - Georgina Kincaid
Richelle Mead - Age of X
Kim Harrison - The Hollows
Rachel Caine - Weather warden
George RR Martin - Song of Ice and Fire
Jim Butcher - The Dresden Files

No, it really couldn't. Not even if the best TV minds in the world made it. The source material is simply not in the same league. The only way it would be similar is in terms of visual scale.

Shannara, hm? I read four or five of the books, I think, but that was a long time ago. The first book felt very LotR inspired, though the world came into its own more after that.

I see that the actress who plays Amberle is in the clip above. She is from the second book, which is about the grandson of the first protagonist, so they must be planning to cover at least the first two. Personally, I thought the second book was far superior to the first book, though I will never read it again; it genuinely broke my heart to the point that it hid the book so that I wouldn't think about it. Actually, another book in the series broke my heart, as well. It's nothing like A Game of Thrones with all the deaths but that makes you care a lot more about the characters, so when one does die, it has more of an emotional impact.
