Forums - Gaming Discussion - My Top 10 SNES third party games!

do you like my list?

YES, it is great! 4 25.00%

absolutely not! 5 31.25%

you're missing chrono trigger :( 7 43.75%

Total:16

Whats most memorable to me (childhood flashbacks) about the snes was the 2player modes in games, and fighters takeing turns when you lost.

We would sit like 6 guys and play a fighter, when you lost, next person got a turn. Also competeing in games like pilot wings.

ClayFighter ,Killer Instinct, Street fighter Alpha 2, Secret of Mana, Super Double Dragon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, Megaman X & X2, PilotWings,  Super mario world, Super Mario RPG,... probably the most played Snes games, back then.

1) Secret of Mana

2) Killer Instinct

3) Super Double Dragon

4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: turtles in time

5) PilotWings

6) Streetfighter Alpha 2

7) Super Mario RPG

8) Super Mario World

9) Megaman X2

10) Final Fantasy III

^ this is how my childhood self would rate the games for the snes :)

(I didnt learn about Chrono trigger until lateron)

Really cool and interesting thread. Please, go play Chrono Trigger right now. One of the few rpgs on par with FF6. But don't play the psn (psx) version. It is garbage. DS or SNES, preferably SNES.

i have it on snes. thats definitely how i would play it.

I have both of those games, but I have not played them yet. From what I have seen, I don't think Illusion of Gaia would crack my top ten. Super Castlevania IV might have a chance though. I wouldn't be surprised.

Ilussion of Gaia was made by the same people that made Act Raiser, and I bet Ilussion of Gaia is gonna crack your Top 10 it's just so amazing.

yeah, i know about pretty much every game enix made for the snes. ill definitely give that one a go too :). maybe ill update the list. since 8th gen consoles are lacking so hard up to now, ill probably have a ton of time going through snes games i missed!

Glad to see Tournament Fighters there, although I never understood why people consider it to be a difficult game. What I liked is that the difficulty is fair, unlike Street Fighter where the higher the difficulty the more damage you get and less you do, which made the game frustrating in higher difficulties. TMNT TF didn't had that issue.

I also liked the music but to be honest, Street Fighter has better music, some even legendary like Ryu, Guile, Ken stage. Can't say the same about TF.

If you like the turtles you should play Turtles in Time, one of the best beat'em up games of all time.

yeah thats the thing about the music.. SF music is absolutely legendary. it is hard to compete with it.. but i just wanted to make the point that TMNT: TF has great music. i was probably over exaggerating, but i really just wanted to make that point. I have played turtles in time, but it didnt make the list :'( i know, i know.. im sorry. it is definitely the best beat em up on the SNES though.

Excellent. Physical copy? Me too. One of the few games I will never ever ever sell (as with all of my SNES games).

ANyway, my list:

1. Final Fantasy VI (probably best rpg I have played)

2. Chrono Trigger (probably best rpg I have played)

3. Seiken Densetsu 3 (gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous and fun game)

4. Super Mario RPG (still the best Mario RPG along with PM: TTYD; would love a sequel)

5. Final Fantasy IV (maybe my 2nd fav. FF after VI; nevertheless, awesome game with wonderful music and difficulty)

6. Mega Man X-X3 (gorgeous games with wonderful music, challenge, and gameplay)

7. Terranigma/Soul Blazer/Illusion of Gaia trilogy (just wonderful action rpgs)

8. Super Castlevania IV (sure, it's dated now, but it is still fun, albeit kinda easy, and has a killer soundtrack)

9. Metal Warriors (very fun game, especially multiplayer)

10. Demon's Crest (akin to Super Metroid, albeit not as good; still, beautiful visuals, themes, and fun gameplay/world)

Hi

Around the Network

I don't have a particular order:

Chrono Trigger: By far one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

Super Street Fighter II: The complete version of one of my favorite fighting games.

Final Fantasy IV: Yes, this one is the best on SNES. Great atmosphere, characters and plot.

Top Gear 2: Tough one. I've played the first game more, but I think the second is better.

Breath of Fire 2: Along with Chrono Trigger, one of the games that introduced me to the RPG genre.

Clock Tower: The only Survival Horror game with jumpscares on SNES... As far as I can remember.

Seiken Densetsu 3: I don't love Secret of Mana, but Seiken Densetsu 3 is a very beautiful game.

Rudra no Hihou: By far the most underrated RPG on SNES.

Mega Man X: I love them all, but X1 was the one I've played the most in my childhood.

Well, most of my favorite games on SNES are 1st party, like Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country 3, etc.

i have all these games mint condition in the box with all the inserts. i also, love mega man X-X3. those are amazing games. Still trying to get my hands on a copy of Demon's Crest. Super Metroid is my favorite game on the console ever BTW :)

Fun list. One of the coolest things about Actraiser is the subdued simulation gameplay followed by the amazing decent to earth and re-animation of the statue. I can still here the hype music as you take human form. Such a great dramatic effect that made the action parts extra exciting .

Blackthorne, Super star wars, zombies ate my neighbors also great

shameless bump :(
