So, African Americans are keeping themselves in a lower class?

Yes, but the main culprit is the 1% for creating classes that fight over the scraps left in the institutional framework.

Stop being a sheep and stop drinking the kool aid

Whatever you want to refer to the 1% does not matter, they shape and form our institutional framework for their own benefit at the cost of the human race.

Either everyone should be allowed to use it or nobody. Anything else is just a blatant double standard.

I would rather prefer everybody using the word, shaking off it's negative conotations along the way than nobody being allowed to use it at the risk of making an even worse slur out of it.

What's with the term African American? Can't they just call them black?

It's surely incredibly offensive to people from the Caribbean...

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I think intent is always important to look at. It's not polite to insult other people and call them names, be they racially charged or not. Conversely, when I use the word 'nigga' with friends and family, I don't mean it as an insult but rather as a term of endearment or just as a simple pronoun.

Saying it's ok for black people to say the N word but not for others is the definition racism.

Hey, i'm just asking a question. I know a lot of black Americans that hate the term.

The idea that it should be ok for all people or noone is pretty freaking stupid.

In ANY walk of life, there are different things that are ok for different people to say. Your family can say things that you would be pissed off at your friends saying, your friends can say things that you'd be pissed at strangers for saying. Conversely there are probably things that strangers might say that wouldn't bother you that would bother you if your friends said.

In ANY walk of life, people who share a common experience with you are often allowed to say things others can't. Whether its coworkers who share the same job, people who share the same hobby, or even people with a common ethnic identity.

Do I think it's ok for black people to call each other nigger, and not for white people? Well, that's pretty irrelevant. I'm not a black person, and I don't have a dog in this race. It's really irrelevant to my life, and I'm not sure why my opinion warrants consideration. So, black people can figure it out for themselves.
