The all female Rock band that saw success during the 70's, specially in Japan, saw the departure of bassist Jackie Fox in 1977 after she had an emotional breakdown during the Japanese tour in which she even went to hurt herself in desperation. She had been struggling with her life in the band and that day in that Japanese tour she decided to finally quit and now she tells her story.
Jackie Fox (Jacqueline Louise Fuchs) decided to come forward and talk how now dead producer Kim Fowley once raped her during an after-show in which she, aged 16, was given Quaaludes by random people in a Motel. Once the drugs took effect, Fowley took advantage of her in front of other people, including Runaways members, says Jackie.
In the article Jackie talks about her struggle with the traumatic experience, how other people present that did nothing to help her (including Runaway members) affected her and what she thinks of them now, how she felt powerless in her life as a band member due to having no one to talk to, and how she couldn't reach the other members due to conflictive relationships between them.
Jackie said that knowing the story of Kesha and the accusations against Bill Cosby drugging women to sexually assault them made her find the resolution to come forward and tell her story.
