Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo of America has dropped Plans For US Release of Devil's Third

NoA needs new upper management imo. Some of the descisions that they make are just mind-boggling.

You could let a D6 be the boss of NoA and you'd probably see improvements...

Seriously though, I'd really want someone at Nintendo to explain to me how NoA can be so much worse than the European division. It makes no sense how the bigger and more important market has to beg for games while the weaker one can just sit and wait for the games to come.

How are they a lot worse? This is the only game they are skipping. I could understand that arguement last gen, but they've learned from the Operation Rainfall fiasco.

What have they learned? There are games still not coming over and those that do are localized incredibly slowly.

Fan fucking tastic

The only Wii U game I was actually excited for. The game was made by Itagaki; at the very least it would have been decent and thats fine. Dynasty Warriors, Onechanbara, Earth Defense Force are all cheesy B/C class games with average to below average production values, but are still entertaining games. Let the consumers decide! How many times are they gonna let this attitude get in the way of their games. There not our fucking parents.

Imagine if reviews/opinions of out of touch old farts effected the release of games. How many gems would we be out?

Around the Network

Never understood the hype of this game but that's not an excuse for their lazyness.

They learned to not ignore the fanbase and pass up on an obviously good game. Xenoblade got good reviews and awards. Devil's Third doesn't look like it will get any of that stuff. What do you mean by slowly? Most 1st party niche Japanese games that get localized launch around the same time in NA and EU. There may be a month long difference for a game or two, but that's it.

I agree about games being localized slowly. It's almost gotten to the point where getting a game several months after Europe and Japan is the expectation.

Ok, so after reading more into this I didn't realize until now that the actual reason Nintendo doesn't want to publish it is because they thought it was an awful game? Lol, to be fair you can't blame them though, if something's going to be terrible they probably won't want their name on it or for it to be considered a "nintendo game" or something.

Kind of makes the whole point of them getting it as an exclusive pointless though lol.

Weird considering they funded it and likely helped develop it because of the funding. Kind of like Bayo 2. Seems like they screwed up if they see it as not being a good investment don't ya think?

Well, it's certainly an indicator of a mistake in investment.  But it could be they legit trusted a well respected veteran of the industry and said veteran screwed up.  It happens.  A name is worth a lot, but trusting it can also lead to problems.  It's not like old veterans have never screwed up a project before.

Okay. So if you were to contact somene to build something for you, it would be irresponsible for you to not check up on the status of the project, in person to see how things are going. If you want to throw away money on trust, you might as well go give it all away to shelters, it will likely go farther and you can get some tax breaks. Either Nintendo didn't take their responsibility seriously of producing the game, or there is something flawed in this rumor. Since it's only NoA and not Nintendo as a whole, it lends itself to the idea that there is far more going on than what is said in this. It seems like NoA just has a lack of trust in Japanese titles in general. More recent proof of that is Fatal Frame being a digital only release.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

There shouldn't be any difference in US/EU localizations, but I was talking about the long lag from Japanese release to Western release primarily. Why Xenoblade is all the way in December, I'll never know.
