Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Japan ever grow tired of being force fed the same 3DS games over and over again?

Yokai watch two or more times a year, plus there are two possible games to buy.

Pokemon has started to flood the market over there as well.

I am worried that they will become tired of seeing this stuff over and over again very soon.

So much so that it is not a treat when an actual new game in the series releases.

Pokemon puzzle, snap, dungeon, pokken, stadium, the wii U digital games, rereleases, and the new games seems like a lot.

These are not the only titles I see done over and over again on the Comg chart, but are the main offenders. How long can this go on? It seems the vitas niche is to not have the same games over and over again. I always find myself noticing the large range of titles it gets.

If only Nintendo would see this before it is too late. The 3ds is already in a funk saleswise over there and besides a few blips, it will only get worse.

Wow, this is hilarious nonsense. Are you ok or played to much Yokai Watch?

1. The 3DS is still the best selling console/handheld in Japan on a weekly basis. Wii U/Vita/PS4 rotating at place 2-5, most of the time with a wide gap to 3DS.

2. The 3DS has a far more diverse line-up than the Vita or every other current console/handheld in Japan. Sonys abandoned handheld has been REALLY feed mainly with cheap serial games.

4. Get US and EU ever tired of CoD, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, Mario Kart, Fifa or Madden?

Nonetheless the market for dedicated gaming systems is shrinking in Japan and worldwide, because many younger people seems satisfied with Android and iOS games. At least the 3DS gets some new people playing more advanced games. The PS4/XOne/Wii U consoles only mix older gamers from last two console generations.

I just whish level 5 would go back to making professor layton games, those were fantastic. But yeah, Yokai watch it is...
I don't think Japan is tired of it yet, we will see next year when the sequel arrives, but the spin-off is doing good, it seems.
The 3ds sales are probably down in Japan because it's reaching market saturation at the current pricepoint. Sales might go up if they dropped the price on the older skus (Japan doesn't have 2ds as far as I know, right?).

Not before the west tires of annualised COD and Assassins Creeds.

Will the West ever get tired of Madden, FIFA, various open world action game like GTA and FPS in the style of COD and Halo?

Eventually everything changes, but it sort stays the same. Epic RPGs like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy were once the top of craft in Japan, then Pokemon and monster catching began to rule. Now while still popular the closest genre outside Nintendo IPs that come close are visual novel spin offs and sometimes Monster hunter clones.

I've said this before, but no believes me. Even when showing TV ratings. :-/

Every single store in japan has at least one thing yokai watch, hell its printed on the back of kanachu bus tickets.

Isn't ORAS having better legs lately than Yo-kai Watch 2? But yeah, overall I would say the franchise is bigger or getting bigger in Japan than Pokémon. I applaud them for it, but they need to be careful for the future.
