Are you as excited for the announced film reimagining of Stargate as I am?

I loved SG back in the day, the only major grievance i had is that humans acted like f*****g Mother Theresa clones, so perfectly fair and naive and stuff, they acted nothing like a real military would (and should). But today, in the age of kids stuff being remade dark and gritty... this is very likely to be got rid of! There's nothing stopping this thing from being great.

Any thoughts?

A show? I though it was supposed to be a trilogy of movies... I can't seem to remember anyone saying it would be made into a TV show...

You're apart of the 5% (my guess) of stargate fans that is excited for this. The rest of us loved Sg-1, Atlantis, and Universe (as well as their movies) far, far more than the original movie. The fact that this guy just thinks he can throw out decades of GOOD storytelling by making stargate 2 and 3 is an absolute joke.

The first movie didn't do well, and the shows did far better. This is the thing that ticks me off more than anything in the movie/tv section of the world right now; these sequels should NOT be happening.

All sg movies and shows should connect to Sg-1, Atlantis, and Univsere imo.

The fact that Universe was cancelled, despite having good ratings still, just because syfy wanted to get more ghost hunter reality shows and whatnot still ticks me off considering that show was a million times better than Battlestar Galactica.

Wow really? That's mussed up. I loved Battlestar Galactica though xD

I'm not... SUPER excited. x3 While the movie was good in that it established the foundations (circular ring thing that opens wormholes, mythology-based aliens, etc,) pretty much 90% or so of what I enjoyed about Stargate came from the later shows than it did the actual movie itself. Considering how much the creators of the movie apparently LOATHED the shows (and, for the record, they're the ones doing these sequels,) suffice to say few if any elements from the television show are going to be brought into the film, unless outside studio pressure mutters in their ear; "WE NEED TEAL'C."

That and Rolland Emmersomething seems to kind of made a name for himself in creating one 'Earth is Screwed' movie after another, so i can't help but be concerned we'll just end up with a reskinned Independence Day. =P (Which, for the record, I did enjoy, but not so much that I want it AGAIN.)

So yeah. Interested in Stargate-y goodness, but not super confident about the folks helming it.

I watched Galactica, it was a decent show until the last season (it went WAAAAY off the deep end and got depressing). Universe had that sense of exploration and despair but it didn't outright depress you and made me truly curious as to where the show was going. And don't even get me started on Caprica (the worst scifi show I've ever seen, I think).

If it reboots everything and leaves the universe they've built behind, then I'm against it. Sort of like how the new Star Treks are basically a death sentence for the crews of the three main shows, so even though they're pretty cool movies, I hate them for being what they are.

Conspiracy theory!!!!! How would a military know how to act in the face of an alien invasion from a technologically far advanced civilisation unless it has already happened? What are you not telling us.

As to remake of the movie. No, not interested. I liked the original movie and I liked SG-1. But I'm pretty much over the franchise now so won't be seeing the movie(s) unless they get particularly good reviews.
