Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will The Next Zelda Remake Release In 2017?

If you look at the release of every Zelda remake, they're all two years apart

2011 - Ocarina of Time 3D

2013 - The Wind Waker HD

2015 - Majora's Mask 3D

And this might not be a pattern, but they seem to have a pattern of Handheld, Console, Handheld, Console, etc.

So do you think it is possible that the next Zelda remake will release in 2017, and possibly for the next console (Or whatever it is...)? Which Zelda do you think is the most likely to get a remake next?

I kinda doubt that another will happen that soon, but it could happen, and so far they've only done remakes for the 3D games, and the next game after would logically be Twilight Princess. But I have a feeling that won't happen.

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!

Probably Twilight Princess as both MM and OoT got remastered previously and the last one remade for the first time was Wind Waker 11 years after its release. Logic would dictate that they release Twilight princess HD in 2017 (11 years after), then remake OoT, WW and MM in this order on their new console generation.

You forgot about Four Swords Anniversary Edition for 3DS

The thing is that there's two different inhouse studios involved in the remakes. The ones for 3DS were made by Tokyo EAD 1 and Grezzo, while Wind Waker HD was made by EAD 3 in Kyoto.

EAD3 is currently working full force on the new Legend of Zelda and has Tri Force Heroes as a side project, so it is rather unlikely that we'll see an HD remake from them any time soon. They may do one just to get the hang of the NX, but I'm thinking that's just going to be the port of the new Legend of Zelda for WiiU. So my guess: they're not working on it.

Tokyo EAD 1: we don't know what they're working on at the moment. It's a smaller inhouse studio which makes the 3(DS) guides, like the one for the Louvre. They have worked with third party Grezzo on three occasions: three Zelda remakes for 3DS. They have probably started working together with Grezzo on a new project. My guess is that it's Zelda related and probably Twilight Princess HD or Four Swords Adventures HD, but since Grezzo has only been working with GBA and N64 properties on 3DS, it would be a big step for them to remake Twilight Princess for WiiU and/or NX. Maybe they will get to remake another N64 title before that? We'll see. Maybe we'll get Four Swords Adventures first (so they can get to know the architecture) and then Twilight Princess.

Btw. about 5 days ago I made a thread about what Nintendo's inhouse studios are (probably) working on. You should check it out

Twilight Princess remake?

I think it's possible, and I'd love to see that game remade.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Isn't it like Zelda's anniversary next year? Cause if it is, then yea!

Yep, I had that pattern in mind as well, I'm sure that a TP remake will be realised next year, also hope they add more colors to the remake if it happens.

They're pumping out remakes too fast imo. They should have it like Pokemon where it's a remake every ~5 years or so.

In 2016. we will have Zelda U, so Twilight Princess Remake is very possible in 2017/2018. for NX.

Twilight Princess was the only mainline Zelda I felt was lacking. It was much less fun than any of the others, as well as the ugliest and least memorable.

Well Eiji Aonuma said he wanted to make a Zelda aimed at the Western audience because of semi-disappointing Wind Waker sales. We wanted Ocarina of Time 2.0 and that's pretty much what we got. Fans ate it up because it's one of the best selling Zelda games in the series.
