Ok, thanks.
Anyway, The Witcher 3 in UK is dropped by 69% first to second week.
If globally the situation is the same, that's mean:
First week: 3,050,000
Second week: 950,000

even with digital sales, assuming they are around 200k. that leaves 800k between both consoles. thats less than a 50% drop. what? we know it dropped around 70% in the UK, why wouldnt it follow similar trends in the rest of the world?
even using VGC numbers, second week sales usually drop around the 70%-80% range. Bloodborne, Destiny (Xb1), GTA5 (PS3) CoD:AW(PS4), Watch Dogs (PS4), Skyrim (360). So is the witcher 3 macigally breaking this trend and just dropping 40 or 50%?
Actually i saw Dragon Age and GTA5 on PS4 drop around just 45% in the second week, and thats due to Black Firday week being their second week of sales. so they only dropped that much because their second week landed on the biggest week of Video game sales in the whole year. something the witcher 3 obviously didnt experience.

thats a more likely scenario. and before anyone comes in and say "but VGC sales are just an estimate!*. we got actual sales data of this game, and they are still off...
I get that TW3 will without a doubt sell far better on PS4 but 350k on One would be crazy considering the marketing deal, VGC could think a bit before giving numbers
Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:
PS4: 17m XB1: 10m WiiU: 10m Vita: 10m
PS4 is dominating the Console Market. Don't know what to say apart from this.

Maybe if they'd had a first person sex mode the XBOX fans would've bought it.

Sadly Microsoft barely used the marketing deal for Witcher 3, same goes for Dragon Age last holiday season. I saw very few ads for Witcher 3 with Xbox One branding, and it was only bundled in Europe. Big mistake on Microsoft's part imo. Xbox One is continually losing more and more of the RPG fanbase and that saddens me since Xbox had a large RPG fanbase last gen and since RPG's are my favorite genre overall. I fear the situation will only get worse, Micosoft has no announced RPG exclusives as of now. They do still have Fallout 4 marketing at least, they'd better use it much more effectively than they used Dragon Age and Witcher. I want to see a Fallout 4 bundle this Holiday season with plenty of stock. Fallout 4 preorders are huge so far, there is no doubt that a Fallout 4 bundle could help move a good number of Xbox's this holiday season and get more RPG fans on Xbox One. |
Well Shikamaru-Sensei, I hope this can be turned around for games like BattleBorn and Fallout 4. I really want those two games to do really well on the Xbox Platform so that the playing field can be more even. The RPG scene on the Xbox Platform is either losing steam fast, or Microsoft seems bent on pushing the shooting genre to the max.
Another great point you mentioned was the RPG fanbase on the Xbox Platform. I remember going back to the original Xbox there were great RPG's. Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic, Jade Empire (Still waiting Bioware), Black Stone: Magic and Steel, Fable (Lost Chapters as well), and of course, Shenmue II. Xbox 360 brought the house down with Lost Odessey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, The Last Remenant, Infinite Discovery, and Magna Carta 2. Even for a time the Mass Effect Series was exclusive. Now, we really do not see much of any JRPG or any RPG support from Microsoft. I honestly thought Scalebound was going to put an end to this. Sadly..... that wasn't the case. I am still getting the game, but the fact remains is that Microsoft seriously needs to branch out to other genres that they should develop in house to obtain success.

These sales figures are a joke. WAY WAY undertracked. I bought Digital PS4

We must watch TV aimed at two different demographics. I couldn't go more than 2 commercial breaks on shows without seeing a Witcher ad.
Despite all the green in the background and the xbox one logo though all the marketing did was remind me that it was coming out so I could buy it on my PS4.
I do recall seeing a lot of Witcher 3 ads on TV. If you compare the week to week console sales, Xbox One increased more percentage-wise than Playstation 4, despite being well behind software sales of the game. So the marketing deal did have some effect, it's just that there are certain genres that do better on certain platforms and RPGs with sandbox elements tend to do better on PS4 than XB1.
We do know that The Witcher 3 sold 4 million copies in 2 weeks, and that PC accounted for about 1.36 million.

I'm quite impressed by the PS4 numbers, but I expect PC to have majority market share next year.
