Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One to natively support Oculus Rift afterall? Developer claims they're making VR game for XB1

No way the XB1 has the horsepower to run an oculus. This is probably the main reason why the PS4 has that extra 50% GPU power.

I think Morpheus even comes with a seperate device that is going to help power it. I honestly feel like the XB1 has been a console just leaving people hoping for more. First it was the cloud, then DX12, now windows 10 and Oculus. At the end of the generation this might be what I remember most about the X1.

Well, no.  But neither console should be able to use OR natively.

use my XBO every day and I don't pay attention to any of those except Windows 10.   Unlike most, I know both consoles have some garbage, 2008 specs and are both piles of crap compared to anything modern.  This is why I game on PC too.

Yep I've had a PS4,Xb1, and PC. I decided to go with PC beucase I'm graphics whore and honestly the only reason I left PC gaming is because at the time they had nothign like steam or big picture mode.  Exclusives mean nothing to me honestly the only games I've ever played that I would say no gamer can go without playing are The Last of US and Mass Effect. What am I going to do when the sequel comes out fo rthe Last of Us? Honestly I don't know might buy a PS4 play it and then return it within a  week if possible if not just sell it.

With that said I thought all the systems were great. Xb1 was great I just didn't like TF as much as I thought I would so I sold it back. I arleady have an HTPC with XBMC installed so the console was useless I returned it in a week. PS4 I sold online and I kept my PC. There have been negatives and positives to each and evey one.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but aren't the system requirements Oculus Rift released for it's native 1920 x 1200 resolution per eye? It should theoretically be possible to run games at lower than 1920 x 1200, so with low enough resolution versions of games I see no reason why Xbox One wouldn't be compatible with Oculus. Obviously graphics wouldn't be amazing in such a case thanks to the lowered resolution (we'd be looking at something between 480p and 720p per eye probably), but it should be possible.

No way you're getting 2 720p images per eye, as that's basically 1080p and you need a high (90hz) refresh rate for it to run right without making you feel sick. PS4 is 50% more powerful but it still needs the Morpheus to have a seperate processing unit. I really really do not see this happening, at all.

The logic of "Oculus works natively with Windows 10, The Xbox One will use Windows 10, So the Oculus should work natively with the Xbox One." Is so crazily flawed.

That's like saying the Rift will work with Windows phones because they'll use Windows 10.

The minimum spec requirements for the Oculus are so much higher than what the Xbox One can handle.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I am glad I own a PS4, when it comes to VR :)

Double posted on submit.

The reason PS4 has the extra GPU is because Microsoft choose DDR3 and esRAM. The esRAM configuration primarily selling point was Kinect latency. That takes die space that would have been the 50% extra GPU power.
