This is simple, becauase it always was a big deal. Already in the era snes, 3rd party games were a big deal and important for a big sucess. After the ps2 era, in my opinion sony made a big mistake, because of there big domination on the hardware front, they thought they could it do without, even worse the made an very bad price for the ps3...but with the ps4 i think have gone back to the roots and they know that 3rd party games are very important to have exclusive

Well PS1 received many exclusives simply because Saturn was a failure and N64 carts were too expensive. PS1 just became the platform developers focused on by default. Granted Sony moneyhatted some notable titles.

For PS2 era, Xbox and Gamecube seemed to do a pretty good job at moving 3rd party software inspite of having a fraction of the userbase. So they got support but Sony still had many major exclusives.

With PS3... Sony fucked up. They lost much of their usebase and there was little reason for 3rd parties to stick with them. Also, Sony wanted to push 1st party instead of throwing money at 3rd like MS was doing. But making good games is hard so Sony has developed dependence on 3rd parties again.

Bottom line, there is less criticism about buying 3rd party exclusives because Sony is doing it.

Personally I hate it. Buying exclusives so the competitor cant have it doesent benefit consumers.

Bottomline is you didn't read the OP, but yeah yeah PS fans are all hypocrites, we get it.

Who said they were? Most are generally anti-consumer.

To be honest I can imagine it would be a feeling of relief to a single-console owner if their anticipated game is partnered with their manufacturer, as if they weren't they would almost certainly be partnered with the rival console.

And MS are still the biggest culprit imo, hell, they even paid for an entire game not to go to PlayStation for a while. Fallout 4, Fifa 16, The Division, Rainbow 6 Siege... Not just Fallout as you say.

Very well. I think its shit Microsoft is doing this, and your actually forgetting all of the EA sports franchises, cause they're all have "exclusive content". I think they shouldn't be doing this, but the same goes for Sony. In fact, all of the games you listed actually should belong to Sony, but the same goes for Sony's games. They're both targeting their wrong audiance.

and how many games did MS show for 2016? Two, one was a CGI trailer and the other was a boring demo. we already seen a lot of Until Dawn, Tearaway and Everybodies gone to the rapture. and a new trailer for Persona 5 was shown shortly after E3. why waste E3 time on that instead of showing new games?

Sony brought the big guns to E3. Horizon, Uncharted, Dreams, Rigs, TLG, Shenmue, FF7, Final Fantasy World. just because they didnt focus and spend much time on the games coming out this year doesnt mean they arent coming.

Ok, but what about Gamescom? It still exists. And once again, next year is next year. I don't like waiting till holiday 2016 for games. E3 should be showing off games for this year, and Gamescom for next year. You can say whatever you please, but I'm not a corporation, I am a gamer. The practice is anti-consumer (but no, its good for Sony, and you should "suck it up").

That has literally never been the case, now stop acting as if it has.

ROTR was announced at Gamescom 2014, not E3. I was unable to watch the rest of the conference, as I was flying back from Europe.

@bolded: and Sony have brought game this year, and are bringing a lot more. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Persona 5, Rime, Tomorrow Children, MLB, No Man's Sky (though it is timed), Tearaway, Until Dawn, The Order, Bloodborne, Uncharted Collection are all coming out this year or came out this year. thats without other third party multiplates, yes they are on other platforms but that does not dismiss the fact that they are on the PS4 as well. last time i checked, PS4 has more games coming out this year than any other console, so no, you dont have to wait till 2016.

what about gamescom? due to marketing reasons Sony made their confrence during Paris Game week. MS are going ahead with a gamescom confrence. so how about we about we wait and see both confrences before we even talk about them?

again, these exclusive deals help sell console, which help devs continue their business which help devs make more games. personally i dont give two shits about timed DLC or an extra bland side mission in an open world game which has tones of missions and side quests. so me getting DLC early or late has never been something i cared for.

i understand it can be annoying to some, and i agree it has its stink of "anti-consumer". but it really isnt a big deal, and its expected when Sony are dominating hardware sales like they are now. but Sony is investing in all kinds of games, from all sorts of developers and for all sorts of audinces. indie, AAA, VR, indepedent, F2P, JRPG's and all sorts of games. and thats why people really dont care if Sony gets CoD DLC a month earlier, its just not a big deal when Sony as a publisher is still doing their best to put out games, take risks and grow as a publisher.

I laughed at 1 exclusive for ps4 from Sony for 2015. Nintendo is the only way.

Really, well the Paris Game week is at the end of October, while Gamescom is at early to mid August. Sony isn't bothering to show its 2015 lineup, as it isn't going ahead to Gamescom. Microsoft will be showing off a 2016 lineup at Gamescom, but we already know that, since they've finished off their 2015 lineup. And as for Sony's great lineup, explain why they didn't bother showing it off at the 2015 conference?

Because they already showed a lot of it before the confrence?  come on, lets not kid out selfs, Sony's confrence was jam packed. TLG, Horizon, Dreams, FF7 Remake, Shenmue 3, world of FF, CoD, Rigs, PM, Battlefront, Assassins Creed, Hitman, No Mans Sky, Uncharted 4, Street Fighter 5, Destiny (ugh!), Firewatch, Desiny infinity.

they showed gameplay sections from literally every game other than Shenmue, hitman and FF7. they simply didnt have time. and why show gameplay of until dawn when we already seen a lot, have a release date and know so much about it? same goes with every other game coming out this year. Rime was the only game i can say that should have been there.

and what is your topic now? who had the better E3 or is it about third party deals? why is a 2015 game dismissed if it isnt showed during E3 this year? does this mean that MS's E3 last year and the year before was utter garbage? stop moving goal posts and talk about the subject at hand, one that you opened up.

You mean like last year? Exactly my point, show it one year earlier, and then forget about it. Microsoft's E3 was also a mess last year, but we're talking about this year. And why is it dismissed, because Sony dismissed it. They don't give a shit about it.
