Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are 3rd party exclusive deals suddenly a great thing now?

Why are they great?

BECAUSE PS4 HAS THEM, SUCKA!!!! 73 50.34%

They aren't, they just hurt the industry. 56 38.62%

I always loved them! 16 11.03%

Sony has definitely one-upped MS this gen on exclusive content. The Destiny deal was big, as was buying exclusive content for Watch Dogs, AC4, and Batman. Then MS one upped Sony with the Tomb Raider deal, and now Sony is just copying MS with FF7 HD remake.

Never ending cycle.

and how many games did MS show for 2016? Two, one was a CGI trailer and the other was a boring demo. we already seen a lot of Until Dawn, Tearaway and Everybodies gone to the rapture. and a new trailer for Persona 5 was shown shortly after E3. why waste E3 time on that instead of showing new games?

Sony brought the big guns to E3. Horizon, Uncharted, Dreams, Rigs, TLG, Shenmue, FF7, Final Fantasy World. just because they didnt focus and spend much time on the games coming out this year doesnt mean they arent coming.

The big guns?  Horizon was new. Shenmue is a Kickstarter for a $30 digital title years away, FF7 is multiplat.  FF World, Rig, Dreams...big guns? who are you kidding?

Horizon was the only big thing at Sony's E3 that was new.  I don't understand why you had to bash MS conference and try to hype Sony's.   Like, why?  "a boring demo"  just stop.

3rd party AAA games being multiplataform is the anomaly, not the rule, last gen it was common just because Ps3 flopped hard and x360 had and advantage, so many franchises planned to be ps3 exclusives turned into multiplataforms. To name Assasssins creed, Final Fantasy and GTA IV, they were all planned to be ps3 exclusives at first. Look at ps2 and ps1 era and see how many AAA games were first released for it and at maximum had a later port to the other platforms.

With ps4 dominance there some games that will have no reason to be multiplataform, mainly those franchises with system seller power like Final Fantasy and Shenmue, there no reason to worry about platforms if you're main public will get the system you are on, the costs of porting, mainly with the ps4 dominance, won't be worth it.

Multiplataform is worth it when the consoles share is equivalent , with one console dominating like the ps1, ps2 and ps4 did and do, there's less reason to go multiplat, and I think it's a good thing, games can be better optimized.

And really, unless you're a huge fan of xbox franchises there's no reason to get one xbone over a ps4, no reason at all.

Yeah, i believe when SONY dominates the consoles market, console will have more variety in games compared to last gen, when all games being popular with FPS and PC games like, at least when PS money hating is for a good reason, because nobody want consoles industry ruled by dudes bros games .

Yep. Sony is already heavily invested in many genres of games as proven by the PS4's diverse and large game library. The COD DLC is a move to capture FPS fans.

Fixed it for ya.

3rd party exclusive content deals are not a great thing. 3rd party exclusive games are.

Wait, all those Resistance and Killzone games don't count, why? Seems like Sony, since the PS3, have ignored their own RPG series (such as Dark Cloud, Ark the Lad, Legend of Dragoon, Legaia etc) to invest in the dudebros.

You don't understand why?

Its never really bothered me. Its been going on for years now so I doubt it will change much.

To be honest I would just prefer if a 3rd party would just stick to one console. I hate that resources are getting wasted on other consoles instead of game content and stability.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Ok, but what about Gamescom? It still exists. And once again, next year is next year. I don't like waiting till holiday 2016 for games. E3 should be showing off games for this year, and Gamescom for next year. You can say whatever you please, but I'm not a corporation, I am a gamer. The practice is anti-consumer (but no, its good for Sony, and you should "suck it up").

Bottom line, there is less criticism about buying 3rd party exclusives because Sony is doing it.

Personally I hate it. Buying exclusives so the competitor cant have it doesent benefit consumers.

Who said they were? Most are generally anti-consumer.

To be honest I can imagine it would be a feeling of relief to a single-console owner if their anticipated game is partnered with their manufacturer, as if they weren't they would almost certainly be partnered with the rival console.

And MS are still the biggest culprit imo, hell, they even paid for an entire game not to go to PlayStation for a while. Fallout 4, Fifa 16, The Division, Rainbow 6 Siege... Not just Fallout as you say.
