Forums - Music Discussion - Any other metal fans here?

So, I was just wondering how many other people on these forums are fans of heavy metal. I grew up with parents that liked heavy metal, so I really enjoy it. However, it wasn't until much later when I got into extreme metal. Anyways, here's some of my favourite metal bands/songs:

I like some, but I won't say I love metal.
But SoaD is my favorite band/group.

I like System of a Down too!

Yes, I really love almost every kind of metal. But that is also true to most of musical genres out there too... I really like almost everything. xD

And one thing I love is to switch from a classical piece to a thrash metal song, and then to a k-pop song, and so on... So yeah, I'm not the traditional metal fan, but I love metal as a whole. s2

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I think Opeth is the best metal group of the last decade and I completely love Blackwater Park.

Alice in chains are great I love them (they are more grunge than metal though), and of course Metallica and Megadeth are freaking classics.

Not a hardcore fan of metal, but I like good music in general.

Yes, I like a lot of different types of music too. In fact my favourite band is Linkin Park, which, depending on how strict the definition is, is considered metal by some.

I'm not a fan of any genre but yes, I do like some metal artists - but not very many traditional ones. Machinae Supremacy and Amorphis are my favourites but I like some others too.

I recall you posted like the first three songs in a thread here before. :P I think it was in that Fifth Harmony thread.

I listen to all those bands, actually some of the songs you posted are my favorites from them.

I listen to Down in A Hole and Would? almost every day.

Grand Declaration of War is possibly one of my favorite Metal albums of all time. That album is a like an iron fist punch on your face. There is this very "family friendly" performance of Freezing Moon live at Wacken which I love (apart from Maniac's drunken singing there)

THAT goat head, man lol

I prefer Blasphemer's guitar solo in Freezing Moon than Euronymous :D

I go back to Metallica regularly, but I am more into listening to their live stuff more. Blackened, Sanitarium, Fade to Black, I go for those regularity.

I am looking forward to Megadeth's new album with Adler, the drummer from Lamb of God, though I loathed Super Collider.

R.I.P. Dimebag. I have a calendar page with the date of Dimebag's murder (you know those callendars with little pages with the number of the days in it that you can rip off once a day passes) posted on my room's mirror. I remember when I heard the new on the radio. I couldn't fucking believe it. I decided to keep that page date there to remind myself of one of Metal guitar heroes.

I am spending a hell lot of time in finding new bands these days, I just "found" this band and it kicked my ass, they may not be re-writing the Metal subgenre but they kick major asses:

No, I don't listen to Metal.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I like metal, but not the same sub-genres as most of the stuff you posted. My favorite band that would be classified as metal would be Protest the Hero (Progressive Metal):

I'd say the lyrics and vocals for most of the bands I would classify as metal tend to be unappealing to me. Something about the lower vocal tones and the overly brooding lyrics just doesn't jive with me.

Then you have bands like Between the Buried and Me, who I absolutely love instrumentally but they go overboard with the screaming. I see screaming as an extreme end of the vocal emotional scale, so when you are always hanging on the extremes, it loses its power and fades into monotony...

Do you like the heavier death metal like Cryptopsy?

Nice, it's always good to appreciate tons of different stuff. I also love Linkin Park! I've been listening to them since Meteora (when I was just 9 - I miss that time so much .-.), my 2nd favorite album from them. But I don't think most people consider them metal.
