Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Kay. Splatfest is garbage.

I know they postponed Splatfest because they were having connection problems, but at least on my end, they're still there.  My connection is fine, but I'm not exaggerating when I say that 75% of the matches I play are determined by which team has the guy/guys who drop/quit.  No joke.  We get creamed, I look at the scores and see that someone got no kills and one death, or no kills/deaths at all.  We wreck the other team, I see that the same has happened to them.  One time we even had someone drop but still managed to win...because the other team lost TWO guys.  And the quarter of the time when no one drops?  Then the standard problem with Splatoon in general comes into play--you lose/win because of some kid who doesn't know how to play and wracks up a 0/12 ratio while shooting absently at the wall.  All of this ad infinitum.  Of the thirty or so matches I just played, I'd say that three of them were good honest fun where eight players were just duking it out until the end.

I've still got time until the July 4th festivities begin, and I was rocking a big streak, but I just decided to quit.  The victor in almost every match is arbitrary, and the outcome of cats vs. dogs will be too if these problems are across the board.  These problems do happen outside of Splatfest, but not quite as bad.  If this game is going to have lasting appeal they need to have a ranked Turf Wars option, because it's my favorite mode, but the casual nature makes it difficult to do well in.

Am I totally out of line, here?  Is everyone else having a grand old time and I'm just looking too deep into this?

maybe its just your end. i received a few great hours earlier and then i left on my own terms after getting the Cat King rank. the most i ever got was slight lag in 1 or 2 matches but that was about it. i did notice a few times that a few seconds had to pass before my team would even move off the spawn point but still, only a few times and it wasnt even a big deal.

i think if anything was to blame for slow connection it would be the fact that Tower Control launched a few days ago and i did see a bit of lag on that. nothing too serious but it was noticeable. maybe the sudden burst of new features caused some backlash as it does seem to be a pattern with Splatoon so far

That maybe on just your end.
From what I've played so far. I've had no issues whatsoever. And it's been a blast.

I had one 3 vs. 4, but no other issues.

It's been great on my end all morning. I did get stuck with a team of 3 vs 4 a few times though.

I also had the 3 vs. 4 issue, but only once. The rest of the time my teammates or opponents drop or quit. It feels like almost no victory or loss is fair.

One 3 vs 4, no problems other than that for me

Maybe it'll be better for you next time. It is the first one after all

So far, I haven't had any issues for others dropping out, but I myself had some connection issues so that I could not join a game :/

But during the game, I don't drop out so it's fine for me..

It's a shame you've encountered that problem, but for me everything has been fair. I've lost only to having a bad team or just plain doing bad myself. But I can't say I've had any issues with people dropping out.

Had a couple matches where someone dropped out. I had one match where I mysteriously disconnected. But beyond that it was fine. I've had a full team more often than not, and when I found a good team more often than not we stuck together for at least 4 or 5 matches in a row. I love what they did with Splatfest. Not enough cats though.
