Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Was this the first gen that Nintendo released big titles at reduced prices?

I'm sure I only paid £30 for Windwaker at launch (games were normally £40-45)

Pretty sure that it isn't.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

They're reduced in price because they're not "big" titles. They're somewhere between a download game and a "full" game with a big budget. At least if we're talking about the same games, here (Captain Toad, Kirby Rainbow Curse, etc.).

If so, then why?

Did they know from the start that they were releasing inferior products?

What is the reasoning for games like Toad, that are actually really good?

What inferior products?

Because it's relatively small title without big budget!?

Inferior products just because they are not AAA?

That kind of thinking is a freaking cancer to the industry this days.

Maaan, you guys are quite sesintive when we question the decisions of the god Nintendo.

OT: I'm pretty sure spin-offs of main titles have been released at reduced prices before. Pokemon and Mario spin-offs come to mind.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Maybe they feel under pressure from the low cost pricing of ios and android games. Casual games have generally got a lot cheaper. Mario kart had the free game promotion too which made it brilliant value. I think this is probably also related to being in third position. If wii u had sold like wii we may have found Nintendo pricing not as competitve.

Wasn't every single Wii game at a reduced price?

Certain games like Captain Toad weren't sold at regular price because it was not a huge first party game such as Smash, it was something smaller made to fill in a gap between releases. Doesn't mean it's not a good game, just not as big as others.

Seriously, it's not that hard to realize this. People are looking way too deep into things that are simple.

MP 10 and DK were 50 instead of 60.... On Wii, both series were the same price, which is the price every Wii game had besides shovelware and smaller titles. Few exceptions were SEGA titles, and The Last Story/Pandora's Tower..

Just my two cents.
