Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Digital Foundry: Can Halo 5 deliver on its 60fps promise?

didnt even notice that, my point still stands though. ive seen ps4 owners think that they'll get 4k with an update to ps4's software.

I'm one of them... for video only.

HDMI 1.4 can output 3840×2160 at 24/30fps... that is 4k.

Well, I hope it does, since doing so means somewhat justifying the lack of splitscreen, a feature that I used almost exclusively on Halo. I'm going to miss those sessions with me and my friend playing in splitscreen while being in an online game.

Indeed Etho-Senpai. I do not think Sony wants to push 4K for this generation. Perhaps the next since AMD seems to be pushing heavy on 4K graphics cards (assuming they will help Sony in the first place).

Ohhhh GOD... i343 confirmed splitscreen multiples times... they dropped it recentelly.

Okay buddy. Two tweets from a single dev almost a year from release amounts to multiple confirmations these days that certain features will be included in a game.

You made up your own story about how Gaf got angry on top of that as it wasn't surrounding those tweets and confirmation but because people thought 343 were dishonest as they hadn't come outright and told everyone splitscreen wouldn't be included and tried to hide it. You also fail to mention that two pages later in the same thread the main person calling them dishonest himself admits that he went too far.

All the splitscreen talk happened because splitscreen has been a staple in halo since Halo CE and they suddenly have taken it out for guardians when a large miniority still want it in the game. This is not because they promised and confirmed splitscreen would 100 percent be in halo 5 Guardians and had then taken it out so I have no idea what you're talking about. Even if they had confirmed the feature in PR statements or to IGN/Gamespot/whatever or even at E3, it was cut and people still have 3 months to cancel their pre-orders and get their money back. They aren't lying or fooling anybody out of money. Don't be so naive.

Makes me wonder how come people expect 4k in next gen.

The only time i've ever heard any one mention 4k gaming on current gen its a few deluded Xbox players. Most of us know that isn't going to happen on either console. As far as the article goes, i don't think they'll have issues getting the MP to a solid 60fps, SP they might just end up dropping to 30fps if it's too much of a hassle. Also are they saying the E3 demo ran below 720p?

Very classy homie. And we all know that Xbox fans are all about 1080p 60fps ramblings.

I assume he's referring to people like misterxmedia (4k gaming on the X1 being one of his more recent claims). He's certainly the only person I've personally seen make such claims, though i don't doubt there are Sony equivalents out there (just lacking misterxmedia's audience and notoriety).

I don't know.  I have NEVER heard anyone claim that the PS4 could do 4k Gaming.  And believe it our not it was a Microsoft employee who said that the Xbox One could do 4k gaming.  So, even though you are right about misterxmedia... it goes a little deeper than that:

They confirmed splitscreen at E3 2014.

Re-confirmed in December 2014.

Droped after E3 2015.

That is not made up... it is what happened... GAF is really upset about that not just in the OT thread but outside it because they dropped a feature confirmed by devs before.

Now you believe what you want... I just showed the facts.

PS. He is not a single dev... he is the head producer of the game and he confirmed/denied others features in the game... it is he job do that... the other dev on GAF confirmed they dropped splitscreen recently.

He is the same guy that confirmed no splitscreen now.

Personally, I'm a lot more worried about it not being able to reach 1080p.

Ethomaz mind fascinates me.

Destiny was shipped with less than 1/3 of planets and arenas from what was promissed. It dosen´t have split screen. The game changed from a fantasy MMO with FPS combat to a Halo-ish space opera shooter with MMO grinding and farming... and he still thinks it´s the bigest game this generation so far.

Destiny is 90% Halo from its art stile to its combat, to its veicles and enemies. Too bad for a companie that split way from Microsoft to make different games.

He seems to have no clue how developing works and how developers have to cut content and features all the time.

PS: Uncharted 4 was showed and promissed 60FPS, it has to be cuted in the campain for it the game have more open and dinamic areas. Where is the outcry and people asking for "give me 60FPS of give death"?

No. Your mind is just nonsense.

What Destiny or Uncharted have to do with this thread... Or is just your bias?

Show me proof... any... about Bungie saying they will have more planets... Destiny have flaws but number of planets is not one of them lol and it really delivered something unique (Destiny way different from Halo).

I don't care about resolution, as long as the game runs at a semi-solid 60fps, then i'm a happy guy.
