Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Could Japan sales numbers decide what games Nintendo develop?

There is absolutely no merit to this hypothesis because there are way too many cases that contradict such a pattern.

I do not expect it to be a static rule over time. I do not even assume it is a simple rule.

I would be happy if you could provide one or two of the contradictions that I have not myself thought of.

As an example I would really like to know why Nintendo choose to remake Kid Icarus after all those years, and why they did not port it to Wii U. The first Kid Icarus was successful in Japan (1090k - NES) and moderatly successful in US. The nostalgia interest has not been very big from US/EU.

Sequels, localisations and other important Ninty actions are purely decided to piss off American Ninty fans, Reggie is the proof!

If nintendo (or eastern developers in general) would only make sequels for games selling 1million+ in japan alone, we see barely any games.
1million+ in japan alone is - when not considering MonsterHunter, DragonQuest, FinalFantasy (even though it is declining), and very few others - very very good numbers.
