The two that I've enjoyed pretty much every game from in the last 20 years, Naughty Dog and Insomniac. Insomniac has been more hit and miss lately with that Xbox exclusive open world game that was pretty mediocre and of course their multiplat mess plus FFA and A4O were terrible. However they still made my favorite franchise of all time in Ratchet and Clank, my favorite FPS of all time with Resistance 3, and one of my favorite mascots with Spyro (PS1 days Spyro of course). Naughty Dog just doesn't make bad games. They made a great kart racer, 10 amazing main line games in their 3 major franchises and have Uncharted 4 looking stellar.

I said devs in the OP. And if they happen to publish other games, you get those as well. 


You might as well just say publishers then... Why choose a single developer when you can choose the publisher that the developer operates under... Choosing just a developer would be a lot more interesting, it would make you limit your games quite a bit.  With your op, it would probably be better to just name a couple of the big publishers as their portfolio is generally broad enough to cover everything you might want.  Developers tend to be more specialized...

Because you chose publishers, I'll go for Sony and... Ubisoft. Yeah, Sony and Ubisoft.

Square and Nintendo? There aren't many with consistent great output. Most only really have one or two great games.

Publishers: Nintendo and Ubisoft.

If I pick Firaxis i'd miss AC, if I pick ubisoft I'd miss civilization.

You may as well just say publisher since publishing other devs games counts as the publisher's. At this point, Sony has become more diverse and modern than Nintendo so I would choose them over Nintendo. The next is a toss up between activision (since it includes blizzard) or ubisoft

 

edit: if I had to pick devs and not publishers, I'd say naughty dog and nintendo ead (honorable mention to retro)

Nintendo - Intelligent Systems is easily my favorite development studio of all time
Sony - Mainly because of Naughty Dog
