Sorry. But its not 9th gen console if its weaker than Xbox One / PS4. Release time, power and other credentials just dont allow it to be part of 9th gen.

If PSP GO can be same generation as PSP then I see no issue NX being part of 8th gen.

According to whom? Gens are defined by order of which a new platform is released and nothing else, it's 9th gen because it succeeds an 8th gen console.

Because it's a different model PSP that's why much like the N3DS is a different model 3DS.

There was a rumor that said the hardware was going to be a WiiU with a better CPU and faster RAM. If that's the case, then I would say no it is not "new" and still an 8th gen console, sort of like a "refresh".
If its completely new hardware with a new full lineup of dedicated games, then it would be the first 9th gen console.

Though we have no info on the NX whatsoever, I think it would be a 9th gen system

Then is Xbox One only 3rd gen? Is PS4 only the 4th gen? we call these consoles... 8th gen consoles.

Because what gen a console belongs to is determined by its time frame, and competitors.

 

Nintendos NX console will compete against the 8th gen consoles, for probably 80% of its life... that makes it a 8th gen console.
