If you consider the Wii as a 7th gen console, there's no reason to consider the NX as something other than a 9th gen, unless Nintendo just makes a New WiiU (just like the N3DS).

Ka-pi... really? Its going to be a 9th gen console. 7th gen was abnormally long. most gens last 4-6 years.

Definitely not 9th, I think neither Nintendo will push NX like 9th console. I would say 8.5th. :)

It depends. Will it primarily compete with the PS4 and Xbox 1 or will it compete with their successors.

It will put Nintendo about on foot with PS4 & Xbox one....So it ll be nintendo finally getting a 8th gen console.

Which really just highlights how ridiculous and artificial the "generations" thing can be at times.

Technically, I guess. Realistically, only if it represents a significant jump in technology.

Personally, if it's near the baseline of the PS4/XO, then I would consider it in the same generation.

9 gen, and Will release 1 year befote XB2 ( 2018 ) and 2 before PS5 ( 2019 ).

I think it will be know as a ninth gen console. If it's at least graphically on par to the PS4 and Xbox One, I see no reason as to why it shouldn't be called a ninth gen console since it will more then likely be able to play all PS5 and NXB games at a significantly reduced resolution ( but still be able to play them ).

Doesn't really matter what we think. As long as there are enough people pretending it's 9th gen it will be 9th gen.

Technologically it will be 8th gen, much like Wii U is 7th gen from a power and feature standpoint.
