It eventually will happen. I hope it doesn't but it will. We will have companies to replace them though. I would also like an explanation on why they would be making their last console. I could see this happening sooner for microsoft and sony , because gaming is all nintendo gots while they got other things to make money. I am going to estimate the last sony to be 2015 the last microsoft whenever sony loses a major threat to them and the last nintendo will be when the games getting old or we make a transition to something like virtual reality or senses such as touch and taste in gaming. So what is your opinion on this?

Nintendo, never, they've been around for close to 120 years, they won't suddenly disappear. MS and Sony though? Dunno. Depends on how well the next generation will play out for them.

20 years from now my guess buy who knows.

If Nintendo does pull out in the future they could always go back to card making or a taxi company.

OT I f any company is going to stop making consoles in the near future I think it will be MS as Nintendo and Sony seem to be doing pretty well and MS are struggling.

Nintendo will end when the world ends.
Microsoft's last generation will be the next generation.
Sony is hard to know.
Apple will enter either in the 8th or 9th generation.

360 is probably tha last Microsoft console because they r lossing a lot of money

Nintendo - a long time in the future, they can make money off anything.

MS/Sony - If either fail to make a profit next gen they are out, if they succeed next gen they stay in.

Mr Iwata said a while back *the day we stop making consoles is the day run out of buisnes* and i dont think thats going to happen for a long time.

Nintendo is going to be making consoles until the end of time. They've set themselves and their properties up as ICONS. The only way I can see them exiting the console race is after a series of failures which, I can't see happening. When they lose their stranglehold on the handheld market as well as sell horribly there, then maybe. And when no one buys there consoles or they don't feast off of ther 1st party games? Maybe we'll talk. But Save Luck For Heaven aka Nintendo is here to stay (yeah I'm they're my favorite so what?).

Sony I can't see them exiting for at least another 10-20 years honestly, maybe if their next system starts slow and tapers off. But the Ps3 is already starting to pick up steam, and they have also established themselves as sort of a modern "icon" Think of all the gamers that grew up during the PS1-Ps2 era, to them Sony is like Nintendo to us that grew up in the NES-SNES era, so they are pretty much solidfied.

Microsoft actually is the one company I could see going first, sure the 360 is pretty popular, but unless Microsoft can really bring it with there next console and GET RID OF THE HARDWARE issues, I see them always being a middle to the rear company in comparison to the other 2 (and I OWN both a 360 and WII), they've established the Halo brand and become sort of the system of choice for core- hardcore types (madden and halo junkies) but they would be first to go, and if I guessed I'd say withing the next 10-15 years.
