So I finally took the plunge, largely due to my experience with the PS3 (but the POS PC port of Arkham Knight helps)! The last time I used a PS3 was around 2007 (true story), I played several launch tiles like Collin McRae Dirt, Unreal Tournament 3, Resistance and NFS Carbon. At the time I was thoroughly unimpressed and I barely had any contact with the system throughout the rest of the 7th gen. I spent all of my time on PC and the 360. I always watched the PS3 and Wii from the sidelines, interested but never enough to drop cash on the systems. At the beginning of this gen I gave the Wii U a shot (based on all the Wii hype, primarily from VGChartz itself) and was completely underwhelmed (well documented). After that experience I became extremely sceptical of both the XBox One and PS4 (#PCGamingMasterRace). I had no intention of buying either this soon into the generation.

Enter the PS3. Using the system now, everything is so much better than I remember. The OS, PSN, Media Functionality, the games, its insane. I can only imagine how great the PS4 will get overtime. After being blown away by the PS3 version of The Last of Us (720p doesn't even hurt my eyes, and I'm using a PC desk, its a miracle) the decision was made. I now understand why the PS4 is selling so well, I now understand why the brand is so strong. Apart from "hype" and "marketing" the PS3 itself laid a great foundation for its successor to build upon. I'm really impressed. It should take a week for the damn thing to arrive (#3rdWorldProblems) but I'm totally psyched. 

I already have my PSN set up so please add me (SubiyaCryoliteEX) or leave your id so that I can do so myself. I'm currently playing through The Last of Us, Uncharted 3, MGS 4, God of War III and GT5 on PS3 and really enjoying myself. Cant wait for this beast to arrive. Also, water #priorities

id recommend The Witcher 3. just a fantastic game, though you probably are already playing it on PC.

Second Son is awesome, though kinda low on content for a open world game, still i would recommend it heavily along with Infamous First Light.

Buying at this time is perfect IMO games wise. Your backlog will be large enough you always have something to play. Tons of games coming out over the next 12 months will continually rebuild your backlog.

I highly recommend you get the Uncharted Collection this fall. Sounds like you missed them on the PS3, and if you liked TLOU, Uncharted is made by the same people. Uncharted 4 comes out next spring and looks incredible.

Second Son is fairly light on content, so when it was 60 bucks it might be iffy for some. But you can get it for 20 bucks now, and for 20 bucks you won't regret it.

I also got my. Ps4 because of my ps3, but only because my ps3 broke down and repairs wasn't possible so my only options were buy a new ps3 or get a ps4 sooner then anticipated. Luckily. Blood borne just got released at that time so it helped made my decision easier. Will get a ps3 again in the not to distant future.

Anyways this is all thanks to the legendary. PSX or what we call the ps1 now.

Yeah, I already completed the Witcher on PC.  Second Son has dropped in price so Ill probably be satisfied with what I get regardless.
