Those japanese games have certainly won E3 for sony despite MS having BC

Perhaps those Japanese games at E3 have more appeal in the west?

I mean they relied on us to kickstart Shenmue 3. I gave them $29 by the way.

I guess that's subjective. Its not the size of the library that appeals me, its specific games. The games I want to play on PS4 simply aren't here yet and won't be this year.

That's a completely fair statement. Why can't you be like that all the time?

I'm generally pretty fair in my opinion.

I think both platforms have strong libraries, primarily because there are a lot of good multiplat games. Both have solid exclusives as well.

When people want to boast about quantity though, its not really worth much. Quantity isn't the reason PS4 is doing so well but some argue it is. PS4 would still be significantly ahead of X1 even with the same size library.

I think the argument is every Xbox game Sony fans are interested in are on PC.

Which works out great for Sony fans because every 360 game came to PC and every Playstation fan has a high end PC to play them. These are facts.

i dont think its a stretch to say that by the end of the gen the PS4 will have 6 million or more consoles sold in japan (probably even more if great JRPGs keep coming to the system like FF7remake, Star Ocean 5, Persona 5, Dragon Quest Heroes 2 etc), if you think those numbers arent partly the reason why the PS4 is selling and will probably keep selling more than their competitors this gen then i have nothing to disscuss with you because your standars are completly off from mines, for you a million is nothing, for me its a big number especially since the competition is selling almost nothing in the same region... not to mention we dont know how many people outside of Japan are buying a PS4 for this type of games (like myself).

I'm not saying the Japanese numbers are worth nothing, its just not that significant compared to the west. Sony would gladly trade its Japanese market share for more western gamers. Especially since the Japanese console market seems to be shrinking. Again, Sony doesn't even cater to its Japanese audience anymore. Especially with Vita's relatively quick death (i.e. legacy platform).

We also don't know how many people in Japan are buying PS4 to play western games. You know... those gaijin.

What is the point of this? PC gets around 500+ exclusives every year.

Japanese developers are now making "Japanese games [that] are designed to appeal to [westerners]".  You then subtract out the million PS4 consoles that are sold in Japan, to discredit those sales, which leaves you with 21 million units sold.  What about all of the westerners, in that 21 million consoles, that are picking up Japanese games that "are designed to appeal to us?" Hmmm??  Why don't you subtract out those people as well?  Perhaps that would discredit your argument of "[indie, niche, and Japanese games] aren't the reasons PS4 is doing so well."

It's all subjective.

Last gen, Xbox 360 had 1000s of exclusive $1 games, tons of Arcade games, a few "Truev exclusives", and some games that were shared with PC. It equalled out to " Xbox had no games ". Any attempt to state otherwise was meet with such statements as " The Xbox is a magical console. I can play its exclusives without owning one! "

A thread I made last gen reached over 300 posts as people argued that ALL GAMES COUNT vs a large group that claims only retail exclusives with a metacritic score of over 70% counted as actual games. Now, it seems that the goalposts have shifted again. Suddenly everything counts as I had always hoped it would.

Doesn't matter to people that took a particular stance a year or two ago. All that matters is that their favorite console is "winning". And even if the PS4 is winning and winning quite soundly, that's not enough. Some kind of pleasure is derived by driving your opponents face in their loss. That's console wars for ya!
