They paid more money.

Could do with one line. Better profitability potential.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

$$$

Like any other deal.

the most important reason: the longtime deal with ms expired and was up for grab

second most important reason: ms did not want to renew the longtime deal

third most important reason: sony payed a tuckload of money

fourth and fifth most important reason: what we was talking about...
still decent pr talk

Either Microsoft didn't renew the deal or Sony paid more. How often do publishers "choose" console marketing deals for multiplats? Most of the things that Sony did with Destiny MS and Nintendo also do with other games, so I seriously doubt that was the reason Sony got CoD.

The 3 biggest 3rd party games this holiday (COD, AC, and Star Wars [both Infinity and Battlefront]) are ALL going to get PS4 saturation bombing advertisement. Couple with unique downloadable games, Until Dawn, Tearaway, and Uncharted Trilogy and you've got yourself one big Fall with all months and demographics covered.

This holiday will be very interesting with MS's typical ad blitz, Halo, Forza (every year so not that big a boost probably), Tomb Raider, and something I think I'm forgetting (didn't they have some other exclusive coming Sep-Dec?) and their huge discounts (already have huge bundles even though we're in the Summer) vs. all that PS4 momentum, third party ads supporting PS4, and possible $50 price cut (at least better bundles than last year)

huh? not even close

including 2 million xbox one bundles and last gen ac:rogue, the game was only the 6. best selling game of 2015
ac will be lucky to make it into the top 10 this year ;)

im glad ms dont have it since i dont play cod and the deal did nothing for me

Well... There is no point of being glad for it :)

While I disagree with the OP on the reason (the reason, is simply money and the potential of making babies with it :) and nothing to do with special or out of the ordinary partnership), it sucks for Microsoft to do not have the deal. Even if you do not like it, it would have helped the Xbox brand in general like it will help the Playstation one.

That^^

Very simple :)

Too bad CoD eSports will still be done on Xbox. As the controller is far superior.  But its great for Sony.  They gave up on 2015 for the most part other than 3rd party deals which will be fine.

Yeah....no.

Here's a thought, now bear with me. What if, and this might be a big IF for some people, what if MS simply didn't renew the deal with Activision? :-O is this even possible?

Pretty much this. Its dumb to have your biggest shooter (exclusive) compete with something else. That's probably why Microsoft ditched the 3rd party stratagy this year, and focused on 1st parties (and I think its a better idea).
