He's talking about Europe, not just France.

Yes, otherwise Jim Ryan is full of shit. Here, take a look at this post from NeoGAF: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=170402837&postcount=24

In the case of France: PS4 would have needed to sell and additional 1.5million units while XB1 and Wii U sold 0 units to reach 70% in France.

The Wii U is at 600k in France for be correct... yeah, no way for PS4 be at 70% of marketshare if we including WiiU+XB1.

What are you on about? He doesn't say France, he says Europe. It could be 50% in France and still be 70% in Europe.

Indeed i talk about France, not Europe. ;)

The way I read it: PS4 is in the lead in every country in Europe and has a 70% to 90% marketshare in each individual country in mainland Europe. If he's talking mainland Europe as a whole then why have such a wide margin? The difference between a 70% lead and 90% lead for a whole continent is huge.

This is actually pretty depressing, mostly because it's not even a contest anymore.
Anyways, congrats Sony.

I'm abismal at maths but this is frigin' easy. 70% for the whole of Europe and in some parts of Europe 90%. They're getting beaten in some places and hammered in others. Some places it's 90% but on average 'across' Europe it's 70%.

You could be right, who knows :p Both your and my statements make sense to me with my shitty Engrish.

This was to be expected, if the PS3 won Europe with all its screwups then the PS4 was always gonna walk it. I'm glad I live in the UK, at least there's one competitive market. Prices are brilliant as a result and both systems have good-sized fanbases.

Xbox One did release around 10 months later in several european countries. So it was either a PS4 or nothing as far as consoles go.

And it's still like this in many countries. Mine is still not supported.

Not surprising tbh. WIll be interesting to see what Microsoft does with their next console. I think if Sony don't fuck up with the PS5 again then the next Xbox will probably sell even worse than the XB1.
