Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft may be interested in buying AMD (Rumour)

ArchangelMadzz said:
That would make sense, I wouldn't be against this. Sony could still go AMD next gen, even if MS buy it, MS went Blu Ray. Microsoft office is on the Z4 Tablet. They can cooperate you know?

And if Sony go Nvidia next gen then be ready for an overpriced machine -.-

There's a significant difference between having a bluray drive that your competitor has some part in in your system or using your competitors software on your tablets and having your competitor directly involved in the design of your systems hardware.

Just posting a link in the OP is against forum rules. You need to quote some text from the source AND make some comment of your own.

That comment section on the article makes me not worried as a Nintendo fan. Microsoft will want to make money and the best way to do that is to keep companies using your chip and so they will do their best to give Sony and Nintendo good deals.

most stupid rumor ever! its not called wintel for no reason...
oh and it makes no sense mobile too. windows tabs use intel cores.

Not going to happen. No need for them to buy the company up. They are on life support and are at least two technology nodes behind Intel. If Micrsoft want to continue being the leader in server and cloud they need to stick with Intel.

May Wintel forever reign!!!

Searching for articles on this story, I'm not seeing any top tech sites covering it yet. That usually indicates they don't see enough substance.

PS5 to go with Nvidia?

I hope not for Sony sakes, Nvidia has questionable practices with partners if I remember correctly.

If they do so it'll be completely irrelevant to the console market.

Really? My guess is that, if that is true, Sony won't choose AMSD for PS5.

Sony and MS are normal business partners, Sony would ofcourse consider all alternatives, but atleast at this point it seems AMD should again be able to deliver the best price/performance/power consumption package for the next gen and Sony won't want to miss out on that even if the company actually belonged to MS at that point

They may do it in their eternal quest for monopoly. Sony will have to go to nvidea or intel again.
