I going out on a limb, but if the NX can continue backwards comp with Wii-u, i think nintendo will be able sell some gamepads stand-alone.

I'm pretty sure that Nintendo will try some form of BC, but that will recquire the handheld y you don't own a gamepad. That way, you reward WiiU owners and sell a lot of handhelds to those that want to play WiiU titles. Nintendo won't sell the gamepad standalone, it has already proven that it's a product very few people really want.

Wii games shouldn't have too much trouble to be changed to be playable with a controller, but Wii U games... yeah, that could be an issue later down the line.

You don't understand. How can you make a VC compatible in the future console if you don't have dual screens for DS/3DS, a wiimote for Wii games or a Gamepad for WiiU?

first things first. Nintendo should unify its console OS and all these VC purchases, it should transfer for free from Wii and Wii U on a one time payment service.

no more double/triple dipping... i know it is a business but Nintendo should still think who really buys these things.

I saw Metroid Prime as $1.50 for Wii U VC, I already have it on Wii. I won't pay additional $1.50 to migrate to Wii U. maybe just for save point? it is dirt cheap but i won't double dip.

Wii U games like Smash U, MK8, Bayonetta 2, 3D World, etc. could easily make it to VC as the usage of the Gamepad is more for off TV play

DS/3DS games would be a bit more tricky, but we are already seeing DS games make it to the Wii U so I'm sure it's not that difficult.

Also, they could just remake/remaster the games if needed..
