But the Gamepad shouldn't exist at all. I'm getting banned for this, by the way.

why not? i still do like the idea. Some games doing great use of the 2nd screen (WindwakerHD, ZombiU), Off tv Play is great and local multiplayer without splitscreen is great too.

The problem with wii u is more the weighting they give the 2nd screen. It was to much. It is nice to have the opinion to use this screen if it makes sense, but for games like Watchdogs a simple map on the screen would be enough.

it shouldnt had be THE BIG FEATURE of the wii u (that should had been 1080p) but it is still a good idea imo.

Could even look better than your rough version. Remove superfluous fatures like the front facing camera (no one uses this), the mic (it has a headphone/headset jack), replace the larger current speakers with a small weak one (again, it has a headphone/headset jack), move the NFC chip under the screen, and shrink the home button to a strip more like the 3DS XL. Also, make the screen more or less the size of a Droid Ultimate screen or so. Smaller, but not a big deal to shrink it. All that would allow for a far more attractive profile.  And it would have focused the gamepad on its true potential:  gaming.  The current one has all kinds of issues mainly cause it feels like it was trying to be a tablet when it had more potential in a more pure, gaming focus.

it was just a concept made in 5 minutes without photo editing skills^^ sure it should even look abit better but this should jsut give a direction^^

Because it does nothing but damage the integrity of the console with gamers, sometimes damaging the quality of games by questionable design choices made because of it, and increasing the price of the thing by a significant amount making it less accessible, even for fans. Regarding Ninty's reputation, as if it wasn't already bad enough that the Wii made Nintendo the laughing stock of the industry, the Wii U served as confirmation for people that never took the Wii as a real console that Nintendo in their mind sucked, limiting Nintendo's market by a lot, and making their things a lot harder to market in the long run.

Imagine a Wii U with a normal controller, selling for 250 on day of release, with appealing games that didn't rely on gimmicks and made with Ninty fans of mind, sounds good right? I can say with no hasitation that the Wii U could've sold 15 M by now if that was the case, but Nintendo sucks at making logical decisions and unfortenely it wasn't.

I'm now filled with determination.

That DS4/Vita combo image looks damn sexy. Love where the sticks are positioned on it.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Lol I remember Tachikoma did a "design a controller" thread and I put one exactly like that. I'm gonna try and find it.

And yes I agree, the Gamepad is too much and a more standard controller with screen (or a Vita/DS4 combo) would have been much better.

it's probably in part because it's what i'm used to but this form is much more appealing to me,.. specifically on the right hand side having the buttons be above the analog not below.  i don't like that on the wiiU.  on the left side i could go either way but i'm pretty happy with the playstation layout compared to the xbox layout.

regardless,. ergonomics is really important if you are going to game for a long period of time and this looks soo much more comfortable then what i've played on wiiU.

lastly, a screen the size of a vita screen is plenty.  the wiiU's screen is larger than it really needs to be.

I feel like the screen would be too small. That would bring some limitations.

I for one am fine with it the way it is. Whether they should have made it at all...well that's another issue entirely. :P

I have imaged a wii u with a normal controller - i got a Playstation 3 and xbox 360 that could play nintendo games. If its that what you want, it would even be better if they go third party and stop making own consoles at all.

The wii u (or wii) at least are individual and special. Even the ps3 was special (got a blueray player which was a big thing in that time). But the new ps and xbox are just middle class gaming pc with expensive games(60-70$) and online fees. They even need game installations and get day one patches.
I like nintendos consoles most scince the always try new things. Otherwhise i would just get a pc.

It's okay.. I think the gamepad design is fine actually

Hm i do own a wii u but i never got the feeling i need a THAT big screen to be honest. A 5inch screen like modern smartphones would be enough for me. I dont know any situation i would need or benefit from a bigger screen so far.
