I heard/read alot things about the wii u gamepad like: clunky, huge, ugly, heavy etc.

The Wii U gamepad does look worse as it is in real (in my opinion). It holds better as it gives the impression.

nonetheless, i made a concept how i wish the gamepad should look. I think this design would also have a better appearance and is even more comfortable.

What do you think? Would it be better? And why do you think nintendo didnt take a design similar to this?

Please Note: Im not good in photoshop^^

Wii U Gamepad:

Around the Network

I like the normal GamePad better, but this wouldn't be bad for someone who wants something more like the Pro-Controller but also wants to have the advantages of the GamePad.

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!

Doesn't look any better than the original GamePad, imo.

Honestly, the GamePad should've never existed, and the Pro Controller should've been the standard.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Bulky and unappealing it may be, but it works great as a TV remote and is much easier to find, too.

I like the gamepad but obviously the design could have been better. The idea of second screen is great but the gamepad needs a redesing.

More appealing looking? Sure

More functional? Not sure

Though if it costs less to make than the old Gamepad, they should certainly do that. I've long said that a smaller, sleeker gamepad would entice more buyers.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I know we are talking Wii U but these look much better, no offense.

And yes I agree, the Gamepad is too much and a more standard controller with screen (or a Vita/DS4 combo) would have been much better.

Well i guess its to late now^^

But i think the gamepad design might be one of many reasons why the wii u failed. Many core gamers saw it and where instandly uninterested (not everybody even knows the pro controller does exist).

Alot of my friends also said things like:" Wow it is alot better as i thought it would be".

Like i said, the gamepad is ok for gaming (i still prefer the pro controller) but the appearance made alot people not beeing even interested for the whole console/the 2nd screen concept in my opinion.

i can see their next controller being like a standard issue controller, but with a screen at the center. not game-pad size but around the size of a 3DS XL top screen. the NFC reader would also be build into the screen like on the New 3DS. overall the button layout would be the same except with triggers and not just static shoulder buttons

Wow i didnt knew these pictured did exist, they are very similar to my concept^^

I also think that these concepts really could be real. Im sure Microsoft and Sony developed something like this and would had release it with their 8th gen console if the wii u would had been as sucsessfull as the wii. They didnt want to be beaten by nintendo again just because of the controls.

As they noticed the bad wii u sales they become convinced that a tradiotnal controller would be better.
