Forbes just put up an interview with Reggie. One of the questions was about the Wii U and if any of the new games coming out will convince people to buy one. He listed some games as potential system sellers, and then said this about Xenoblade Chronicles X: 

"And then the other one I would point to is Xenoblade Chronicles X. Especially for an older consumer, and potentially a consumer that owns a competitive console, this game with its massive open world, beautifully rendered, I think it’s going to be something that’s going to excite that fan and drive them into the business."

 This is really interesting to me. What does he mean by "competitive console?" Is a competitive console like the X1 & PS4? Why is the Wii U not "competitive?" Am I reading too much into this? What do you guys think?

Well if they were putting FE and PM on WIIU then it could have.
It won't since there are no rpgs on wii u until IR#FE.

game look good but not a system seller ... nintendo seem still living in the cloud!!

p.s. got my pre order at best buy pass 2 year E3 even (got it for 29.99$)

If it manages to sell at least one console, it'll be a system seller.

Xenoblade will do great, and I wouldn't be shocked if it does sell some systems in the U.S.

The original has sold 900k. Which is around the level of Pikmin 3 and Hyrule Warriors. But obviously those didn't move a bunch of systems. But I know Pikmin gave a small boost.

Pikmin is niche and Pikmin 3 wasn't a system seller. Hyrule Warriors sold more than Pikmin 3 I think, but the musou genre is quite niche as well, even if Zelda is not.

Granted, they're some of the bigger niche games, but not exactly mainstream games either, don't you agree?
