As I said, even when they have female protags, it's just not enough.  Apparently, they need to release notorized transcripts from design phase that proves yes, in fact the character was female from the get-go.  Frankly, it's about as logical as attempting to disprove a negative.  Sorry, but, I think it's preposterous.

Negatives can be disproven in some cases, though.

They CAN be, but it's illogical to do so.  Burden of proof rests with the person making the claim.

The burden of proof isn't logical in every circumstance. If one makes an orignal claim that someone didn't rob a store, and someone says otherwise, it's unfair that only the one saying he didn't rob has to try to prove their point.

Although it is logical for a Theism vs Atheism argument.

Wouldn't it be equally illogical to make a claim that someone didn't rob a store, before any accusation has even been made?  Would that not raise more questions that answers?  What possible reason would someone have to defend themselves from a non-accusation?

They'd want to prove their innocense so no one could evens suspect them. But this has gotten off subject. All I said was that I have a feeling it might have been forced in, not that it is, and not that the game would be better with a male (I think the female makes more sense). Although my opinion has changed a bit since I started this thread. I don't the feminist, stererotype-breaking agenda is accurate anymore.

I honestly don't think that it is just a shoehorn, even games with sexualized female leads, as it could be a core part of the game (Senran Kagura) instead of a shoehorn.

Really? Correct me if I'm wrong but since when does a new IP need some sort of justification for whatever gender it's lead is?
Why would you already assume that they're compromising their vision of the game? Based on what? Is it really that unimaginable that maybe juuuuuust maybe they *gasp* wanted to have a female lead? Maybe that was part of their vision?
This is getting utterly ridiculous. I didn't see threads asking about ubisofts integrity and faithfulness to their vision when they unveiled watchdogs last year. We just assumed the male protagonist was part of their stidios Vision for the game. Can we please give Horizon/Recore/ any other game the same benefit?

I'm not really sure how a gender can be forced into a game.

Gender roles are a societal construct with little or no actual materialistic reasoning.

What reason should Nathan Drake absolutely be a man?

What does he do that a woman can't [fictitiously I mean, there's lots of real reasons real men can't do what he can.]?

Gender could be forced into the game by making a game world where men can exclusively do some things and women exclusively do other things and the game title is "Feminist Propaganda: The Woman's Advantage" and the women are always president.

I guess there could be an in-universe rule that only men can be the star, but that's just grasping at thin air.

Usually I love them. Plus I think females are the superior gender anyway.

Great examples include Samus, Lara Croft and Bayonetta.
