To the OP,

You have some good points, but Nintendo is a corporation. Their bottom line is to find ways to make as much money as they can. Is it possible for them to treat consumers with respect at the same time? Absolutely. However, these past several years just show they are losing their hold on what consumers want.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

but was he mostly right? 5,6 years isn't motly right for anything. Not for any companies e3 show, not for any companies history. It's mostly wrong. TLG and FFXV don't make him mostly right. Most companies release most there games within a window not very different from nintendos windows. Some noticable exceptions but some are comparable to the zelda teaser.  Peopel don't agree with saying an exageration is right, or mostly right.

You need to read that in context. You mentioned that 5,6 year years didn't much apply and that 3,4 years would have been more accurate, but I mentioned that of 4 important upcoming games, two fit in that category, so 50% accuracy. Of course I don't think he's referring to the majority of games released in a decent gap between reveal and release.

And that's why people can't accept that he might be right, because the meaning is distorted. He made a vague comment in a verbal interview, it would be illogical to think he was referring to the majority of games released within 2 years of reveal.

if you have to pick 4 games to even be able to argue he was 50% right you already over half way to realizing how much of an exageration he made :) The thing is he didnt' say, what you are saying. He exagerated and you have to really reach to even get what you call a 50% acuracy. instead of trying to fill things in that weren't there to get 50% acuracy, accept he was wrong with his exageration and move on.

I don't mind waiting three years to play Xenoblade.

Mostly because it was a dig at Sony even though Sony has done that pretty much exactely as many times as Nintendo has in recent years.

We don't know how long the FFVII remake will take, but it is just a remake, so it's quite possible we could see it before the end of 2017

Shenmue 3 has a tentative release window of december 2017. Could it get pushed back? Sure. But as of right now it was announced less than 3 years before it's supposed to launch. Which about as much time as there was between Brawl being announced and it launching.

It's really just TLG that fits what he was saying.

Edit: I'll also add that the language he used implies (or at least came across to a lot of people) that it was a systemic difference. That Nintendo as a company has a policy of not announcing games early while their competition does, which is just untrue.

I think this is a fair post. We don't actually know when FFVII RE or Shenmue III will release. However, we can agree that they are very early in development. There was no in-game footage of FFVII RE, and Shenmue III had one scene which was very basic (a creek and two characters).

That's true, and in time they may prove to support his statement. But at the time when he made his statement, they don't support him. Which means what he said was pretty hypocritical.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

You actually believe Project Giant Robot and Project Guard are games coming out? I never considered them more than tech demos.

Nintendo for some reason panicked in the beginning of 2013 and unveiled a lot of titles in their January direct that were very early in development. I doubt they'll make that mistake again.

As for Zelda, it wouldn't be Zelda if it didn't got delayed at least once. Genei Ibun Roku #FE comes out in 2015 in Japan.

Project giant robot and project gaurd were listed as games with a release schedule next to other games releasing this year. They were shown as games and treated as games, even though the rest of the world saw them as tech demos. Besides, the wii u doesn't need tech demos 3 years into its life, exactly who were they trying to impress with those demos.

Who cares if a game comes out early in Japan, that doesn't take away from the fact that I still have to wait for the game in the US. Translations are as much a part in development, and the fact that Japan gets the game early shows Nintendos commitment to cater the Japanese fan base at the expense of the American one. As far as I'm concerned, FExSMT is taking over 3 years to develop since announcement, while fallout 4 is only months since announcement.

"It wouldn't be zelda if it didn't get delayed at least once." Wtf kind of logic is this. Should we start thanking developers for delaying games now? In that case, thanks Ubisoft for delaying watch dogs, you did us a great favor.

if delays are need for quality than yeah. I don't care what they were listed as, Project Giant Robot and Project Guard were never going to be released as Wii U games lol. They're just some gameplay mechanics they will force into the next Star Fox. They were tech demos, bad ones at that.

A Japanese game comes out in Japan first? No shit.

http://nintendo247.com/nintendo-releases-wii-u-release-schedule-dates-star-fox-wii-u-as-2015-release/

Im pretty sure the schedule here led everyone to believe that project giant robot and project gaurd were actual games. If they backtracked and they decided to make them demos, they sure hid that very well.

If delays are needed, fine take a delay. If a game takes a delay for the sake of following tradition, that is stupid.

And yeah, if games come out 3 years after announced in the us, then I count it as 3 years, not 2 years just because it came out earlier in Japan. You don't see bloodborne pulling this type of shit
