Forums - Politics Discussion - Where Is The Human Race Morally Heading?

Things are actually headed in a better direction morally. We now have way better view points on thing like rape, racism, abuse, murder and violence in general. Polygamy is old (hella old) and is even permitted in Abrahamic religions (old testament multiple wives and ditto for islam), incest is almost universally taboo (except for on reddit). Marijauna is only a cultural taboo imposed by wack job puritans and racists and is no more morally wrong than alcohol. Prostitution is complicated and really depends how it is conducted. Sex slavery and pimp controlled hooking is obviously wrong, but I don't see anything wrong with it being voluntary and regulated.

I'm sure we had this debate when slavery was abolished as well and I know we had it when they stopped segregation in schools and on public transport.
I find it both sad and funny that many of the same people who scream that we need to take down IS for their lack of morals, which includes throwing gay people off of buildings as punishment, are also the ones who are outraged at same-sex marriage.

People who label themselves patriots are usually and ironically the ones damaging their country the most. Likening polygamy, prostitution, pedophilia and incest to same-sex marriage shows what level we're still on and it shows that we have a long way to go.

Perhaps we should just revoke womens rights to vote, dismantle Amnesty's anti-torture programs and start segregating the population again and then we'll let some wise men with holy books and assault rifles take charge and set things straight (pun very much intended).

TBH I do not find patriotism wrong, when it is present in natural doses. If anything, a healthy amount of patriotism is only for the best, as it helps the competitive nature of the world.

If anything it all boils down to negative propaganda. Everything does. Untill you dont trample on an avrege joe's basic human rights, IMO there is no reason why a certain behaviour shouldent be allowed. A true patriot, will allways see trough the smoke and mirror, so he will allways know what is wrong or right. At least as an idea, this should work.

OT: intelectual evolution is usually allways perceded by people who opose them. And then change happenes. This is true with the legalization of soft drugs and the right for gay couple to marry

Notice that I said "people who label themselves patriots".

I don't find anything wrong with patriotism either, in and on itself, I suppose it's a matter of definitions. To many, being a patriot apparently means supporting your nation in all its ridiculous solutions and decisions while to some it means raising your voice against them for the betterment of the people and society as a whole. I rather respect the latter.

Interesting thread.

No matter what changes come in the future, I will never change my opinion on people who jerk-off to cartoons. Extreme loneliness and complete absence of intimacy in their lives convinces them that's it's actually natural.

When people start asking for rights to marry animated hentai girls I will hunt them down and pay a prostitute to fuck their brains out.

I would say the longer human civilization exists, the longer humans will have to realize that books from thousands of years ago, probably aren't the best compasses for morality (A 4th grader could rewrite the 10 commandments in a more moral fashion).

I disagree that 4th grader could do that. If they are taught nothing but the opposite of the basics of human morality then those are the 'commandments' he would come up with. The reason a 4th grader now knows about morality is those books which are thousands of years old.

Whether we agree with them or not they are the reason much of our social morality exists.

Hmm, pie.

i think even children in the kindergarden could come up with better rules if someone destilles down their rambling.

dont take my cookie, dont hit me, dont kill the bunny, dont eat the yellow snow, dont call the kindergarden teacher mom, etc.

and NO, basic human moral has nothing to do with the bible.   you have to be realy realy realy stupid or mentaly ill if you need some fairy  tale to tell(not teach, tell) you that killing the person next door because they parked on your spot isnt  cool or good.

our social moral arent based on the bible, thats why we can live free and blacks, women, gays, etc arnt threated like streetdogs.

ohh an that we dont burn people anymore who dont belive that the earth isnt the centre of the universe

We're heading into a more morally enlighten era where religion and superstition won't guide our thinking as much and we are free to decide for ourselves what is good and bad. I welcome this change

I'm not sure the Bible even said 'This planet is centre of the universe.' nor did it tell you to persecute people different to you, it told you to care for everyone. People decided to do all that.

the commandments like 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.' or 'Thou shalt not covet...' something is basic for 'don't be a dick/be jealous'.

They are the basis for modern social morals, not definitive, our own social enlightenment is changing many things but we still don't kill, steal, cheat or covet our neighbours ass.

Hmm, pie.

Clearly down the crapper. Gays used to be ridiculed but now were supposed to accept the freaks. Next thing you know we won't be able to mock those who are into incest anymore.

Were definitely in a pussy era at the moment.

no they are not, those rules are alot older, and some animals have the same rules.  its basic social behavior, not morals or ethics behind those rules.

people maybe decided to hunt down gays because they fear to end like sodom?

the good thing is, most people are better people than those who wrote the bible.
