Forums - Sony Discussion - DriveClub New Review (Gamesradar)

Don't know the context of the MCC reviews but it contains a lot of content and a lot of single player content so it's probably "a little more" forgivable to have broken online (obviously still not forgivable).

DC just didn't have the content compared to other racers so single player alone = 7/10. What' a shame is that the excellent weather effects (which was added later) would of increased the score if it was there at launch and if they also got the online aspect right at launch. The game would of been pushing for a 9 out of 10 score. What will be even more of a shame it that Forza 6 will have great weather effects from the start and nobody will remember that DC reached that level of weather effects first. I mean it's not a shame Forza will get great weather effect, just a shame that DC will be forgotten about in the main media for it's acheivements for stubbling at the first hurdle and creating a negative vibe for it that it never recovered from.

Sure MCC contains more content, it's all old content though. Remasters that bundle together multiple games are quite normal. Competitive multiplayer is the biggest staple of the Halo franchise, and there were issues with single player and co-op as well.

DC featured more tracks than any of their previous releases. They didn't make the campaign overly long, I guess to put the focus on challenge mode. Make your own races and publish them, yet the track list was fine from the start. It took a while to memorize and master all the tracks. What other racer would you compare it to? The last semi arcade track racer I can remember is Shift 2 unleashed, more tracks, but recycled content. (And sadly unplayable with fast cars due to input lag) All DC's tracks are new and unique. Better to compare it to Dirt 3, which featured 18 custom made tracks and 44 cars at release.

DC's weather got mentioned when project cars released so I guess it made its mark after all. Forza 6's weather isn't dynamic and not even available on all tracks. Forza 6 won't reach DC's level of weather effects, but it does get 3D puddles.

I can also see why people are frustrated with the 71 score when the game is better than that. But DC isn't the first game to get ripped apart for broken MP and we need developers to stop releasing faulty games because they can patch it later.

True, and its a shame it sits under Motorstorm apocalypse which was the worst in the series imo.
It's their own fault anyway, or Sony's. It should have released in December with weather in the campaign after a real stress test of the server.  Were they expecting to only sell 10k copies or something.... I have the physical release, yet what's on the disc is not even half of the game by now :/

How did Halo MCC get a pass?  What evidence do you have?

Driveclub has a 71 because it is average at best.  Quit the denial.

We were discussing whether it was the online aspect that dragged the score down or something else. The day 1 reviews of Halo didn't mention online problems, neither did DC's.  So yeah, I guess most reviewers thought it was average.

"Many small tweaks, amazing weather and phenomenal photo mode have turned Driveclub into PS4's best racer."

Small teaks and rain = 9 out 10?

OK.

Weather and small tweaks have a dynamic effect on gameplay in Driveclub. Also it got new content for free too.
